"Ahoy, ye landlubbing degenerates!" Jack greeted them jovially as he swung from a rope to land on the deck. "Today we shall learn very important things about heights and swinging from ropes and and AND I have been instructed to tell you--not plunging to our sudden and untimely demises. That part was apparently very important." He looked vaguely confused as to why that might be true.

"But first, we sing!" he said. "Keep up, keep up:

Ye have to be properly pirate-y, of course.

"Hat, flowy shirt, and trousers today, Captain!" Uhura exclaimed. A skirt would have been impractical for climbing up masts.

Again, Alexander's garb was already fairly piratey in its own right, but he did choose to don a jaunty cap as well today.

It's quite catchy, no?

"This is going to be stuck in my head ALL DAY," Uhura muttered under her breath before belting it out.

"Oh we are the pirates, we don't do anything!" This song was rather fun to sing.

Silly as the song was, Alexander found it fun and it was impossible to sing it without being in a better mood, as far as he was concerned.

He might think differently about matters when, a few days later, it was still stuck in his head.

It really was catchy. And seemed oh so very appropriate for this workshop as well.

Why yes, Jack is expecting you to climb up the main mast. Which is, um, tall. Very, very tall.

At least there are ropes?

That is a tall mast, Uhura thought, looking up. A bit daunting, really. This is no way for a future Starfleet officer to behave, and she sucked in her breath.

She grabbed a rope, and hoisted herself up. "Just don't look down," she said to no one in particular.

A mast could never be as high up as Manannan's castle, and Alexander had scaled down from that thing more times than he could count. So the height certaintly didn't bother him, and the climbing part was just an exciting challenge that he took on with gusto. It was a shame that Daventry was mostly a landlocked realm...he could handle this sailor thing as a life if he wasn't going to be king.
