Adventure Games, Monday, Period 3
Ziva had instructed the students to come to the Danger Shop again today for class. This week, the students would find themselves standing by a wooden platform, with an identical platform about ten feet away, and on the ground between the platforms was a thick bed of fresh mud.
"Over the past few weeks, you have all proven yourselves to be quite capable of straightforward physical challenges," Ziva said, sounding quite pleased about that. "Today, I thought we would try something a little more difficult. It can be quite easy to walk a shaky path or climb a tall structure when the path you must take is clear and right in front of you. But what if your path is not clear? What if you do not know exactly what is at your destination? What if you must rely on something like instinct?"
Taking hold of the rope that was tied firmly above them, Ziva swung herself across the mud to the other platform, and then threw the rope back. "See if you can make it across and land here safely, without falling. Sometimes, what seems simple might not be." In this case, that would be because from where they were standing, it would be difficult to see the grease that Ziva had spread along the first foot of the platform. If they wanted to land without slipping, they were going to have to make it to where she did.
They were all a bunch of physical geniuses. Surely they'd be fine!

Take Your Swing
Mwahahaha.Re: Take Your Swing
Unfortunately, he'd hit it too short and that grease immediately had his arms flailing. He tried to keep his balance but to no avail. He hit the mud with a loud, loud curse and glared at nothing in particular.
Great. Wonderful start to the week. He clambered out of the mud, shook some of it off and dared anyone to laugh.
Re: Take Your Swing
It could have been lava.
Alexander, feeling confident in his swinging ability, took a hold of a rope and started toward the platform.
"Whoa-whoa-whoooo-oa!"
And found the grease. His arms went flailing, his body jerking as his boots slipped along the platform toward the edge. It looked as though he might almost make it, too, but, just when he seemed to have had control of things, he misjudged the distance to the edge and slipped right off of it, into the mud, with a good splat.
Definitely good thing it wasn't lava. Then some narrator would be making a really terrible pun.
No matter; Alexander had fallen into worse things than mud, so, after a moment to regain his composure, he climbed on out of the mud and went to try it again. This time knowing what awaited.

"Wheee!"
Then he landed and hit the grease. "Wheeeee!"
