Good morning.

I hope you all received my email this weekend. If you have any concerns about the discontinuation of Friday sessions, please let me know and I will attempt to address them.

Classics: We will continue our study of the basics of Greek. Please pair up and practice the pronounciations. Audiotapes demonstrating the proper sounds are in the cupboard at the back of the room; each pair of students should take a tape and headphones and go to a listening booth to work.

Languages of Asia: There is a quiz on Cantonese today, with the same format as the quiz on Hebrew last week. After you complete the vocabulary and translation passage, please approach me at my desk for a brief conversation in Cantonese.

Phoebe signs in and starts work immediately.

Evelyn signs in and begins working

Draco signs in and starts to work.

Janet drags herself in from the clinic and stifles a yawn as she signs in and begins to go over her pronunciation.

Sam slides into a seat next to her at the last minute and notices the yawn. "What happened last night?" She then begins to go over her pronunciation.

Rory sighs as she slides into her seat, and begins practicing pronounciation.

"Parker will be fine," whispers Janet later, when Rory finishes with her practice. "Stuck in the clinic the next four days, though."

"Oh, good," Rory whispers, sighing. "I was worried. I feel sort of responsible."

"Why do you feel responsible?" asked Janet. "We can go visit her tonight, if you want."

"Oh, I want to!" Rory says eagerly. "'Cause I yelled at her. And I should've stopped Logan way before it got that far along."

"I'm not trying to blame anyone here," says Janet. "It sounds like this assignment was the last straw, though. What happened with Logan to get Parker that stressed?" She reaches over quickly and gives Rory a reassuring hug.

"Um, well, Logan ordered Parker to endorse vampires for his journalism project," Rory says, pulling out of the hug and frowning. "And Parker, y'know, didn't want to, obviously. And Logan kept pushing for answers, and then they both lost their tempers...and I tried to step in and ended up yelling at them to calm down..." She shakes her head. "And that's when Parker started getting woozy and stuff."

"He what? If I recally correctly, the parameters of the project required that he not ask her to do anything that violated her boundaries--and your boyfriend knew damn well what her boundaries were there."

Janet sighed. "I don't blame you for yelling. In fact, I highly doubt your yelling did anything to exacerbate the situation. It was bad enough going in. Parker and Logan caused enough stress on their own."

Rory sighs, and flips her hair off her forehead. "I honestly don't know why they were paired. I mean, that's just asking for someone to get hurt. I mean, I'm not even going to try to pretend that they get along. I would love it if all my friends and my boyfriend were able to be in the same room at the same time, but..." She shrugs. "And I think Profes - Tara knew that."

Anders signs in and gets to work; his pronunciation is a little bit oddly accented, but not too bad.

Murphy signs in and gets the audio equipment.

A brief nod to Connor before heading over to an unoccupied listening booth.

Connor signs in directly beneath his brother and sits down to read a bit until a listening booth is open.

He waits roughly three minutes before heading over and tapping his twin on the shoulder.

"Ya comin' back, or should I be findin' another ta pair up with then?"

"'Sit look like I was plannin' ta pair up without you?" Connor gives him a bland look. "Review er notes, aye. I'll only be a couple'a minutes.

Which gets him an odd look before Murphy heads back to the booth.

Connor shakes his head and goes back to his notes.

Sonia signs in, finds her seat, and begins practicing her pronunciation, occasionally glancing back to the notes she'd made in the last class.

Jack signs in and gets right to work on his pronounciation.

Thomasina arrives for her classics lesson on time and slides into her usual seat. She is unsure as to what manner of beast an audiotape might be, but she imagines that if she watches her classmates she'll be able to figure it out.
