Pottery-Making 101, Friday 2, July 16

There was clay out, and Steve looking slightly nervous. He was in uncharted territory, for him, here. "Good morning, everyone," he said. "Today we're going to be making a basic slab pot. This is a very simple form of pottery, one that's been around for thousands of years, so...we're going to give it a go." He proceeded to explain how it worked, going through step-by-step, and yes, he had learned how from the internet. He was pretty modern that way sometimes.

"And then," he wrapped up, "of course, you can customize your pot in whatever way you see fit. We'll save firing them for another day. Have fun!"

Bobby was sort of... half-heartedly poking at his lump of clay. Most of his mind was focused on the fact that some people he knew were getting visits from dead loved ones.

And that no one had showed up for him.

Rilla wrinkled up her nose at the slab of clay. "I have to get my hands dirty?" she said.

Gardening was one thing--and there were gloves for that. This was playing with mud, for heaven's sake.
