Sophie had listened to Radio, and suspected no one would really be concentrating on schoolwork today. Not even amusing schoolwork. Those with family or others visiting would be thinking about them; those who didn't, would be thinking about it too.

"Today, we have a TV day. A choice of films; The Girl Nikki. A spy film with several double-crosses. Cancellation Slip. A series about a spy abandoned by his people. Bullseye. A freelance bodyguard who has to be a human chameleon to accomplish his objective."

"Choose any of the films or series mentioned, and point out a confidence strategy that you can use in the future."

Sophie was personally quite fond of "Bullseye", and planned on showing it to Steve sometime.

Emma's head ached. She was just going to put her head down, and try to ignore the mental chatter of her classmates.

Sorry, Emma. That might not be possible. Karla threw her a look like she was drowning and sent, *Emma...my parents...*

Emma's mental growl was somewhat less-than-friendly today. << What about them? >>

*They're here,* she sent, looking down at her hands in her lap. *Well, they're in my dorm room. Waiting. I kind of...fled to class.*

<<And you decided you'd rather come to class than have a family picnic?>> she asked. <<I would have taken notes for you.>>

*Emma, I woke up to find my dead parents hovering over me in my sleep,* Karla said with a bit of acerbity. *Forgive me for not handling it well.*

She paused and looked away again. *They didn't come to me right away. They'd been on the island for hours before they came and found me.*

<< Let me get this straight, >> Emma sent, not bothering to raise her head. << You, like everyone else on this damn island, dreamed of people you loved who were dead. In this case, your parents, including your father, who is a Kaeleeran male. Who had his Queen with him. In a strange territory. >>

Emma had dealt with Morton, and seen the rest of Karla's adopted family hover over Jaenelle. Somehow she got the sense that Karla's father was just as protective when it came to the women in his family.

<< Considering that the male population of the dorms isn't tossed on their asses on the lawn, I think you're doing just fine for the morning.>>

Someone was a bit bitter and cranky, yes.

*As soon as we were done with the hugging and tearful reunion, I got yelled at for falling asleep with my door unlocked,* Karla admitted. *Never mind that I left it unlocked because I was waiting for them.*

She glanced over at Emma, seeing the tension there. *Would you like your shoulders rubbed? Or your temples?* She conjured two pairs of phantom hands, sending them ghosting towards Emma. *You've been getting it from all directions this week, haven't you?*

<<I'm fine, I don't need fussing,>> Emma snapped, shrugging off the hands.

What she wanted was her brother.

Karla let the spell drop, turning to face Emma completely. *What's wrong?* she asked. She had no idea whether Emma had people visiting the island, or even if there was anyone to visit. When it came to talking about her family, Emma clammed up fast.

"Nothing," Emma muttered, switching to verbal speech in hopes of deterring the other girl. "I just don't like being fussed over during class."

It was also easier to lie when talking like this, than when using her telepathy.

See this face, Emma? This is Karla's 'not believing you' face.

She's making it right now. At you.

"So after class I'm allowed to fuss?" she whispered.

"No, after class you are going to go back to the warm and loving embrace of your family and be a happy daughter," Emma retorted quietly. "Don't be dense, darling, it doesn't suit you."

"Actually, after this class, I have several others," Karla reminded. "But point taken."

She just wished things weren't so...fraught with her parents.

"I'm really looking forward to the 'since you've been dead' talk," she added, turning back to the teevee.

"'Dear mummy and daddy, since you died, I grew taller, grew tits, and discovered a fondness for people who are horrible influences in all the best ways. The end,'" Emma offered.

"Well, taller, anyway," Karla said with a slight grin. "Though the horrible influence thing is true."

Asuna liked Cancellation Slip it was funny and fun!

Can you actually learn anything from movie and TV spies? Or is it all smoke, mirrors, and C4?

Who could probably be a good spy, if it weren't for the random stabbing.... okay, so maybe not.

Home around 7pmEST, as usual; and seriously recommending all films and series above, although the original LFN has some violence in it that can be hard to take.
