Adventure Games, Monday, Period 3

Ziva had the students meet by the main campfire again this week, but once everyone arrived, she led them into the preserve, where she'd set up for class. There were two thick ropes stretched out between trees and tied to the trunks - one was about a foot off of the ground, and was laid out over grassy land, and the other was about two feet off of the ground, and laid out over muddy ground.

"Today, we are going to test your balance, and see how well you can handle yourself on unsteady ground" she said. "Your task is simple: climb up onto one of these ropes and walk across to the other side. You may go forwards, or sideways, or however works best for you, and you may pick which rope you choose to cross. If you would like, you may ask someone to spot you to help you if you fall off. No one has to work alone if they do not want to."

Rinoa was pretty sure she could handle the taller rope. But she liked her shoes. So she was going to try to the short one, first, just to be sure before she got mud all over the place.

Are you kidding? Alex was going for the tall rope because he insisted on showing everyone he was superior. And he wasn't going to fall out of sheer stubbornness. His hands got a little roughed up from the rope and his arms burned but he got across.

Of course.

"Is that it?" Tahiri was a touch more caustic than she'd normally be about something like this, but she also seemed to be in a little less than her customary good humor of late.

No matter how bad her mood might've been, her balance was just fine, and something like running across a rope was literally child's play for a Jedi. Damn cheaters.

Firekeeper went for the tall rope, of course. Running and climbing were second nature to someone who'd grown up in the wild, and so she made it across easily without so much as a stumble.

Robin totally went for the tall rope. He didn't let the fact that he had an insanely low center of gravity, or that his feet were just about the perfect size for walking across it deter him from feeling adventurous when crossing it.

Far be it from Alexander to avoid a challenge when it presented itself, especially when everyone else in the class was doing the same thing. It took some doing and some concentration and a few correctly targets mouse clicks to get him across, but he managed successfully and smoothly, smiling proudly that no terrible puns about falling from such great heights could be made regarding his death.

Had Squall tried to carefully cross the rope, working to keep his balance, he might have fallen. But running across? With a flip on the dismount at the end? Well, that just looked cool, so the laws of physics didn't necessarily have to apply.
