Home Ec is Outrageous!; Monday, Period Five [ 07/12 ].
Aquaman did not at all seem to be in the front of the class with his usual gusto and enthusiasm. In fact, one could say that he looked possitively un-Aquaman-like. Sure, he was still in his unform, but the scales seemed to have lost a little bit of its gleam, there was a run in his tights, and his beard looked sadly untrimmed.
He still had a headache, and the only time he remembered feeling this nauseaus was the day after he and little Ariel had eaten sushi.
You see, this weekend, Aquaman learned about Long Island Ice Teas. Mostly that they were not at all like regular, refreshing ice teas, no thanks at all to Vice Principal Deadpool.
Still, the home ec classroom looked like a fabric store had imbibed about five hundred drinks too many and ralphed all over the place, as if Aquaman was compensating for everything he wanted to hack out by doing it with lace and polyester.
"Good morning, class!" Even ill as he felt, there was still a smile to that, albeit a watery one. "I hope you all made far better decisions last weekend than I myself did, but in the face of consequences, we must tackle them and move on, and so here is your lesson for today."
Last time, the brandishing of the sewing needle had been very impressive, but, this time, it just wound up seeming sadly anti-climatic.
"Sewing!"
"Being able to sew and darn and mend is very important. Our clothing is what keeps us warm, it's got our backs covered, it can be a distinguishing feature and it keeps us from indecently exposing ourselves to both the elements and our fellow compatriates. So we need to know how to take care of them. One way to do so is...well, to sew. Fix up all those little holes and tears before they become big holes and tears. I shall demonstrate."
Which he did, taking out a large orange shirt that appeared to have gills on it, and narrating as he showed the class the basics of how to sew, not only holes in your clothing, but also a button. It was a little slow going. Negotating a needle while still hungover was not a pleasant task, but he soldiered through it.
"Now, it's your turn to give it a try. There are many clothes here in need of mending!" It seemed beyond Aquaman to think that some of these clothes had been ripped and ruined for a reason. "There exists among them a varying degree of distress, so pick one you feel comfortable with and darn those darn clothes!"
"If you feel that mere hemming, stitching, sewing and buttoning is a little basic for your own personal skills, I also have available some different material and detailing accessories, and you may spend some time trying to sew your own superhero costume. Plenty to keep you busy, and remember to keep in mind your color choices from last week."
"Good luck. I'll be...over here where thre's not as much light, should you need my assistance."
Not even a pun to go with it. It was a sad, sad day.

Sew your Own Costume! -- Home Ec!, 07/12.
Especially you, Gunn.
Re: Sew your Own Costume! -- Home Ec!, 07/12.
At least with this, he had a bit of experience. Somewhat.
Tights, boots, belt. Toss an X-logo on there for good measure, and then... Give up on it, mostly. Sewing wasn't his strongest point, and if he really wanted a uniform, he'd go back to Massachusetts to get one from the people who knew what they were doing.
[I had to toss him here, mostly because I laughed forever that it's impossible to make anything remotely resembling Chamber using Marvel's own hero-maker.]
