Pottery-Making 101, Friday 2, July 9

"Good morning, everyone," Steve said once his workshop had gathered. "I'm Steve Rogers, and this is...Pottery-Making 101. I have to admit I don't know much about pottery-making, but that's fine, right? We'll learn together." He wasn't entirely sure how he'd wound up teaching it, to be honest, but these things would happen at this school, and he was the art teacher. "So, okay, this routine is going to be pretty familiar, guys. Introduce yourself. Name, grade, something about yourself. Then, you each have a lump of clay. This week just play around with it, get a feel for it. We'll actually do things with it next week. Sound good? Good," Steve said without waiting for their response. If it didn't sound good, well, they would have to live with that.

Mister Rogers probably already knew this, but Ariel had a card for this class, too, which she presented promptly when it came to be her turn:

"Hello! My name is Ariel, and I have no voice, so I can't introduce myself except by this card. But I am very happy to be here!!!! :D"

And, while that was being read, she scribbled down her subsequent card:

"I'll be a sophomore, and I collect dinglehoppers (most people call them forks)."

"Hey. I'm Jak."

There was a prolonged silence.

It... prolonged steadily on.

And on.

And--

"...Uh... I'm from Sandover Village, and I think I'm in the wrong class."

Very thorough, Jak.

"Bobby Drake, I'm a junior, and- something about myself? Well. I am a subscriber to the philosophy that practical jokes are an important and dare I say necessary part of life experience."

See, and the great thing about clay was that you had some under the sea, and so Ariel was sort of familiar with it. She was having probably way too much fun shaping it into things, destroying it, and then shaping it into something else.
