The Danger Room has been programmed to resemble the press briefing room at the White House. On each chair is the student's name on an etched brass plaque. Make sure you only sit in the chair with your name on it.

At the ends of each rows are thick folders rubber banded to a large stack of books. Behind the lectern is a white pull down screen covering the seal of the United States of America.

CJ stands at the lectern, wearing her glasses. She looks up as the students enter the room and checks their name off the list.

Honor System, Gang. If YOU know you have detention, please serve it. Not all the teachers submitted information, or else there were late additions. Thanks.

Ok. It's Saturday. It's detention. I'm supposed to mention about your wicked, wicked ways...yeah, not going to do that. Work harder. Quit screwing around. In some misguided attempt to keep you all sane and alive I signed up for this gig, so let's make the best of a bad situation, and make CJ happy, ok? [She smiles]

All right gang, this is going to be as painless or as painful as you choose for it to be. I want you in groups of not more than four. You each have a different stack of information. These are reports that are sent to the government so we can decide what to give money to. We had an intern, Winnie, and she's read them all and briefed me on them.

Your detention, since most of you are here for not doing your homework, is to consolidate the information, come up with a coherant presentation, and then get up here and present your findings to the rest of us. If you do it well, single moms and garbagemen get to keep on making a living. If not, you damage the environment, poison the masses, and generally create hell on Earth and destroy our noble Democracy as we know it.

But first, we're going to watch a couple films to help orient you to politics as I know and love them.

[Walks to the back, flips off the lights, and starts an old fashioned reel projector. Footage of the Kennedy-Nixon debates flashes on the screen at the front of the room and the lights dim so they can watch.]

I will post sub threads for different detention activities through the day.

Veronica...honey, what's wrong? Sweetie?

Veronica can't speak, she shakes her head and her eyes start filling with tears. She cannot comprehend what just happened.

Come on, sweetie, lets get out of here. [She takes Veronica's hand and leads her out of the Danger Room] Do you want to talk?

"Beka... fire... oh god..." is all she manages to get out before the tears start flowing.

[She sets bunny!Logan on the floor and wraps her arms around Veronica, holding her as she cries]

Let it out, hon. It's going to be ok. CJ's here with you.

"CJ? Veronica?" Beka sounded upset.

Beka, tell her you're ok. That really shook her up.

The shaking subsides and Veronica takes a few deep breaths to try to get control.

"Is Beka okay?" she asks. "Where did the fire come from?"

She looks at CJ and swallows. "Do you remember me telling you in class one day that something really bad happened to me?"

Yes honey, Beka's ok. I remember. SHe's right here...see? She's fine. Beka's fine. And you will be too.

CJ appeared and took Veronica out of detention before Beka could get to her. That was good, because Veronica was crying, but nothing was stopping her from getting to Veronica.

She followed.

"Beka!"

Veronica realizes she totally just melted down in front of an entire room full of people and one of her teachers.

She looks at CJ and Beka.

"I'm so sorry," she says, her face still streaked with tears. "I... um... had a bad experience with fire a few months ago..."

Don't be sorry, hon. Don't. It's not you're fault.

She smiles weakly.

"Thanks."

[ooc: btw, rory left before the presentation was over, i think, so bunny!logan would have been gone... V totally would *not* have wanted him to see her like this]

Beka shot CJ a pleading look. "I'm sorry."

It's ok, Beka. But...I can't leave all of them in there. Are you two ok out here together?

"Yeah. Yeah, it's ... I'll take care of her."

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Buffy standing in the doorway to the Danger Room.

"If anyone else is looking for me, let them come?"

Beka holds out her hands to show she's just fine, and to let Veronica take them if she wants reassurance. "I'm fine. Really. Bel would never hurt me."

Hell. "Veronica, don't apologize. We. Scared. You. All you did was react. ~~C'mere, baby, let me hold you.~~."

(OOC: and so commences another great subtext love)

Veronica grabs Beka's hands and looks ~~deep into her eyes~~ at her intently.

"I was just... surprised... by the fire... where the hell did it come from?"

[ooc: subtext love is the best kind]

[CJ goes back in to finish up detention]

Veronica looked so intense, so...stricken. She couldn't help but embrace her. "I'm so sorry. We should've warned everyone. That was really stupid." ~~Veronica felt so good in her arms.~~ "Bel's a demon. He can summon fire I guess. If he wanted to kill me, he could, I'm sure. But it didn't even hurt. Really."

Veronica ~~enjoys Beka's arms around her~~ hugs Beka and then steps back. She remembers Angelus telling her that Bel was a demon, but it never occured to her that he could create fire out of nothing.

"It's okay, it just kind of, freaked me out."

Buffy hung back in the doorway. She'd only come to make sure Veronica was all right after that stupid demon had hit Beka with the fireball, but she couldn't leave either.
