Dogma: Fuck It! | Wednesday | Period 1

Class was, once again, in the Danger Shop. There was absolutely no way to do today's class in the real world without fear of getting his ass sued. Loki might have been immortal but he wasn't fucking rich. Unfortunately.

"Most of us will only live once," Loki said, smiling at the assembled students. "And I don't want to get into religious beliefs on resurrection and second lives and that shit. Not here for that. For the most part, we'll only live once. And if we live boringly, it's going to get carried with us in the afterlife. You really want some schmuck who's been dead for fifty years to make fun of you for being boring? I fucking hope not."

Loki got the simulation going and smiled widely. "You're never going to have any fucking fun if you don't take risks. Some of you, I'm sure, are used to taking risks. Some of you are probably sticks in the mud who wouldn't know what risk was unless it was a fucking board game. Some of the risks are gonna pay off and some of them will probably have you eating pavement somewhere. How unfortunate. If that happens, pick yourself up and go on with your life. Don't fucking whine, it's so unbecoming. Today, today's all about taking risks. It's putting yourself through situations you typically wouldn't try because you can. It's amping yourself up, getting your fucking adrenaline going and realizing that being a fucking stick in the mud is boring. Boring as hell."

Wow, he sounded like he was giving a pep talk. Loki dialed it down a notch. "The sim is set up for a few situations. The first one? Running through traffic. Yes, there's one choice of trying to dodge traffic on a busy highway. See if you can do it. If you get hit, well, it's only pretend! There's another sim where you get behind the wheel of a car and play chicken with someone else. If you flinch first, you fail the sim. If the person driving the other car flinches? Way to fucking go. If neither of you flinches and you crash? Well, buckle up! Pick either and let's see how you take risks!"

Raven didn't even know how to drive, so option two was out of the question. She took a few tentative steps on to the highway, and when a car came rushing at her, she instinctively teleported to the other side.

Calvin watched the traffic until a suitable gap appeared, then bolted across the road.

Hesitation was for suckers.

Okay, Effy could drive (well, she had her provisional license, anyway), but in this case, went for the out-of-vehicle option.

They might've been supposed to get to the other side, but half-way and a pause was what she was going to go for. It felt canon (http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/607/ixdul.gif) real enough that standing there, and just letting it come at her was a strange sort of release.

Didi walked through the traffic quickly but calmly, trusting the cars would avoid her.

It worked.

Zack was going to just grin and make a mad dash for it, not bothering to stop to see if there would be any sort of break in the traffic. It meant that he was playing leapfrog over a few car hoods, and making one wild leap clear over the cab of a small truck, but it was totally worth it.

It was like a little mini workout!

"Nice!" Kurt called. He followed along behind Zack in much the same way, although with a few more somersaults thrown in. No teleporting, even!

"It's how it's supposed to be done," Zack laughed, shooting a look over his shoulder once he'd reached the other side. "Looks like you have the hang of it, too!"

"Only because I know I'll be okay if I screw up!" Kurt called back.

But, just to prove his point, he added a few more somersaults and twists to his last few jumps. And then, after all that, he misjudged his final jump and landed awkwardly on the guard rail next to Zack.

And Zack watched with a general air of 'oh, yeah, I could do that,' right up until that landing.

"Okay, man, even if you kinda flubbed that last bit, I would so not have been able to stick a landing like that one."

Color him impressed!

[And color me alseep! SP?]

Kurt collected himself from the landing enough to do a little dance on top of the guard rail. "I have skills! I am the skill guy!"

[Absolutely SP! You sleep!]

Not one to be beaten so easily, Zack did a little dance of his own.

... On the ground, which was not nearly as impressive, granted.

"Go Skill Guy, go Skill Guy!"

Oh, enabling Elle's insanity was never, ever a good thing.

Loki might be her favorite person ever right now.

She sprinted across the highway, making it across unscathed. Okay, so she rolled across the hood of a car that slammed the brakes on liekwoah to avoid hitting her. It still counted!
