She hunches over her notebook for her hot, hot Fandom High romance novel OMG WHEEE! notes for the classes she really doesn't have, looking about as sane -- if not less so -- than usual.

Now, what's another word for "turgid"?

"It's bad stuff, whatever we got into. Wish I could have done more."

Han rubbed his chin near the bruise. "That's what it took to calm me down. Glad she got off easier. She still at the clinic?"

Belthazor shook his head. "She's back at the dorms, resting in her room. She's a little embarrassed by what happened. So what exactly happened? Something about a gas being released at Spike's?"

"I don't know, exactly. I saw a cloud of something, but I thought it was just smokesticks. Walked through it without thinking and stepped into the worst night of my life. She was in the booth where it was heaviest."

Some of the hardness from that night still lingered in his face.

"I'm still piecing it all together. And yeah, embarassing."

Nodding, Belthazor said, "Sounds like somebody's idea of a joke. Good thing no one was seriously hurt. Hope they catch who did it, though."

He looked Han over. "I don't think we've met. Belthazor." He offered his hand to Han.
