Blending In, Wednesday, Period 6

When the students arrived today, they would find themselves in a regular classroom setting - regular except for the strange-smelling buffet at the front of the room.

"If you are traveling around the world in this day and age, you would be hard pressed to find a place that did not have a McDonald's, or a Burger King, or some other kind of safe, Americanized cuisine. But when you are traveling, experiencing new foods can be a lot of fun, and if you do not want to appear as an outsider, you might have to eat some foods with which you are unfamiliar. Today, we will be trying some different foods from Europe. They might look or smell a little strange, but I assure you, everything here is good."

Like it's time for food.

Hey, look at that, you get to keep your own clothes on this week. Grab a plate and take some of whatever you want.

It's an appetizer, so the escargot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escargot) comes first. They're buttery! Butter makes everything edible, doesn't it?

What would food exploration be without haggis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haggis)? Mmmm, get it while it's still warm.

It's not exactly a pudding (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_pudding) once it's cooked, of course. That's probably a good thing.

Because Ziva doesn't really (http://guiltykitchen.com/2009/08/salted-butter-caramel-ice-cream/) hate you all.

Not with food in your mouths though, you're not animals.

She was having a little of everything, thank you very much.

I apologize to any vegetarians clicking on these links! I do want some of that ice cream now though.

Kyle Reese

Kyle piled up a portion of everything on offer and took a seat, digging in straight away. A class on eating food was possibly the best class in existence. Oh yes it was.

Ben Skywalker

"Best class ever, you think?" Ben asked, his plate piled equally high.

Ben ate everything that wasn't moving under its own steam still.

"Has to be. The only way it could get better is if there were fries."

Makita

"But there's ice cream," Ben said in tones of deep satisfaction. "So that's good enough for me."

"You sound like a guy who appreciates his ice cream. I'm more of a burger man. Favorite ice cream flavor?"

Andrew Wiggin

"I'm in a chocolate chip phase," Ben admitted with a quick laugh. "Chocolate's hard to find back home."

Delirium

"I haven't tried that one yet. Got any advice for an ice cream rookie?" he asked as he dug into the escargot on his plate.

Hmmm, food. Even when she didn't need it, Del liked the taste.

"Definitely," Ben said, laughing. "Come with me to Chilly Boulder. If you ask my roommate, I practically live there between workouts."

"I can't pass up an opportunity to learn first-hand from an expert," Kyle mused. "When should we go?"

"Friday?" Ben suggested. "I don't have anything to keep me occupied after this class is over."
