There was something oddly appropriate about having a class on giving the finger to every rule and principle you know first thing in the fucking morning. Sure, it meant Loki had to get up ass early but it also meant he got first crack at the students and they'd remember him during their other classes.

Today's class was meeting in the Danger Shop. It was all well and good to tell people how to go against their rules and guidelines but it was much more fucking fun to put it to practical use.

"Welcome to class," Loki said before he got the simulation started. "Authority's a real fucking thorn in the side, isn't it? Someone's always telling you what to do and what not to do. Someone's always trying to ruin your fucking fun because they don't want you to get hurt or maimed or pregnant or some shit like that. Fuck that shit. Not today."

Loki finally got the simulation going to reveal what looked like a regular shopping mall complete with ~~moddable~~ stores and food establishments, random ~~NPC~~ shoppers, benches, fountains, a merry go round, elevators, escalators and other mundane things you would find in a mall. Right now, the mall was busy as hell.

"We're in a mall," Loki said, arms spread. "It's a typical hangout for teenagers who don't have shit better to do so that's what you're going to do today. Hang out. Get into fucking trouble while hanging out. Don't be pansies and just sit and eat ice cream. Cause fucking mayhem! Make trouble! Live a fucking little. But, there's security wandering around this mall and ever since they failed out of the police academy, they've been dying to prove their worth. They want to bust you. So, watch out for that and be prepared if that happens. Have a fucking backup plan. Good? Go."

With that, Loki disappeared and set the students loose in the mall.

"You are incorrect," Raven said, taking a step back from the guard just in case he decided to try to grab her. "I assure you, I do not lie."

"All teenagers lie," the security guard said, hands going back to his belt while he rocked on his heels. He thought he was totally powerful, you see. He was really just compensating because his wife had left him, his dog had died, his television had broken, he'd been eating Ramen for three weeks straight, the hooker he'd picked up had turned out to be an undercover police officer, his mother had disowned him and he had a papercut.

Yep, all that.

"Why should you be any different, girlie?" he asked, sneering.

"Because I am not from around this area," Raven said. Lame excuse was laaaaaaaaaaame, but she was completely out of her element here. Lying or misbehaving wasn't a natural instinct. But maybe the truth would work. "I am from Azarath, a place far from here. You have never heard of it, I am certain. Those of Azarath do not lie, as it is considered a base form of manipulation."

Maybe if he thought she was crazy he would leave her be.

"Who says I ain't heard of Azkaban?" He'd never heard of it as evidenced by the butchering of the name. "It's near Toledo!"

"It lies between dimensions," Raven corrected him. "It is nowhere near this Toledo." She was certain she would have known of a dimension known as Toledo if it bordered Azarath.

"You're just trying to show me up, ain't ya?" the security guard asked, frowning. "No respect your elders!"

"I have a great deal of respect for my elders," Raven said. Just ask her about Anakin! "I am telling you the truth."

"Or you're just trying to make a fool of me! You see this badge, it means I'm the boss!"

That badge was plastic.

Raven leaned in to peer at the badge. "Your badge says you are mall security, not the boss," she said. "And as I am clearly no threat to you, you should seek troublemakers elsewhere."

The mall cop bristled a bit and said, "Getting smart with me? What if I wanna take you downtown?"

Yeah, that meant to his mall security office.

"Mall security means boss!"

Raven drew back again. "I am sorry," she said, "but I am not going anywhere with you. I must decline your offer."

"But, you gotta!" Dammit, this is where being a mall cop sucked. Not enough authority. "Cuz I said so!"

"No," Raven said firmly. She hated to defy an authority figure, even a pretend one, but she had to admit it was giving her a tiny rush to do so. But she still made excuses to herself for her defiance. He was a stranger, for all she knew he really wasn't mall security, he could work for her father or Sebastian. It could happen!

"I could call the real cops--" And that hurt him to say. "--and have you arrested for defying my authority."

"You would have to catch me first," Raven pointed out.

It's not nice to mess with the mundanes, Raven.

"You challenging me to a race, girlie?" the mall cop asked, glaring. "I was All State back in 1976!"

Because that was a GREAT thing to brag about.

"I doubt you are as fast as I am," Raven said. And she teleported outside the store.

The mall cop was just left...staring at the spot Raven had been. And then he stomped away, looking sulky as hell.
