Laser Tag Adventures [First Period, Thursday]

The Danger Shop was off then the class arrived, but Rick was visibly excited and already wearing his laser tag vest.

"Morning kids," he chirped, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "The class is laser tag adventures and for the newbies to my classes, I'm Rick Castle, mystery writer and laser tag player extraordinaire."

He pressed a button and a grungy blue and off-white underground train-station faded into view, as well as extra sets of vests and guns, faded into view.

"Welcome to lovely and picturesque Melbourne, Australia. One of the less picturesque parts of it though, I'm afraid. Parliment Station, one of the five stations making up what's known as the Melbourne City Loop. Think the New York subway, only much tinier, also less pee smell," he waved one hand. "Look, I'll email you all some notes later, but we all know why you picked this class, to play laser tag. We'll be having a free for all today, but introductions first. Name, class, somewhere you think'd be fun to play laser tag."

He pointed at Alex ~~if she was there~~. "One more thing, the lovely Miss Russo is your TA. Use your power wisely, young minion."

There seems to be an extra vest for some bizarre and unexplained reason.

Those escalators seriously are that doomy. Especially going down them.

Kyle Reese

Kyle pulled his vest over his head and clipped everything into place. The lights were weird and the gun was clunky, but otherwise he felt right at home.

"I'm Kyle Reese," he started. "I think I'm a senior now. I don't know about the last question. I picked this class because it sounded practical."

Kyle looked around at his classmates, then made a run for the escalators.

Awkwaaaaaaaard. "Well, think about it and get back to me on somewhere you think might be practical to play laser tag."

Kyle thought about that for a moment. "I can answer that now. San Francisco."

"Okay, San Fran, we'll see what we can do," Rick said. "Any particular part? Like a smaller one?"

Tahiri Veila

Tahiri's room had let her out just in time to go to class today, in the sort of way that gave her the feeling she'd better not try to wander off afterward, and head straight back, or else.

Not the most reassuring feeling in the world to have while putting on a funky laser tag vest.

"Something down near the water?"

Rick nodded. "I'm sure we can do that."

Alex Karev

Alex had hoped this class was exactly what it sounded like when he'd signed up. With his luck, it would have been some philosophical metaphor for something but nope, it was laser tag.

Awesome. He could deal with classes at the end of the week if he got to play laser tag and got graded for it. With that in mind, he strapped on his chest, making sure everything was tight and secure.

"Alex Karev, rising senior," Alex started, running through a list of places in his head where he'd want to play laser before deciding, "and I wanna pretend to shoot things in some fancy museum. Mostly because you'd get the thrill of the game and the added bonus of knocking stuff over and causing more mayhem as a result of your hiding and running."

Well hey, if someone was going to start running, it seemed natural to start chasing so Alex took off after Kyle, staying far enough back that it wouldn't be easy to get a shot at him over a shoulder.

"I love museums." That was pretty much a yes to Alex's idea. "No breaking the dinosaurs though."

"I can get with that because I'm sure I'd cause an incident if I broke the dinosaurs," Alex agreed. "They'd show up on this island and start a new prehistoric period because they were pissed I broke their brother."

"It's wrong I kind of want that to happen now, isn't it?"

Over a shoulder? Please! Mr Flexiblity here waited until he had his footing on the escalators, then turned half back and flung his firing arm out to shoot at Alex side-on as he kept side-stepping up the moving stairs.

"I don't think it's wrong as long as you take the blame for jinxing us," Alex said because the island just seemed to love letting its power be known. "And I, you know, avoid getting eaten by anything big and mean."

Okay, maybe Alex had underestimated Kyle a little bit. He wasn't nearly as flexible as Kyle but he was quick so when he saw that gun come whipping around, he flattened himself on the escalators, bringing his own gun out to try and get off a few quick shots.

Alex would not advise laying down on escalators to anyone else because they weren't comfortable and he was already in a shit position because of that move. He'd either have to roll or get to his feet quick.

Thankfully for Alex, Kyle was more interested in running than shooting him while he was down. He took the opportunity to turn and leap up the escalators and bolt around the corner to one of those big blue things to take cover and wait and see if he came up.

Alex scrambled to his feet, cursing the escalators for being so unforgiving and making his knees ache before he bolted the rest of the way up and immediately ducked low to try and keep out of Kyle's line of sight.

Wherever he'd gone. He was pretty out in the open though so he stayed ducked low near the top of the escalator, using the small area at the top as cover until he figured out a better place to go.

Kyle tried to move around into a better position, but hadn't accounted for his shoes squeaking on the floor. He froze for an instant, then made a run for the next tall, blue...whatever the hell it was.

Alex allowed a split second for a grin at that little slip and shot out from his hiding place, gun already swinging around to take aim at Kyle even as he veered for one of those blue...thingamigs himself.

Not the same one Kyle was going for because that would just be awkward.

Alex Russo

Alex put on her vest, clipping everything into place. It was her last class of the week and it was one heck of way to end it.

"I'm Alex Russo and I'm a rising senior," she said. As for the last question, Alex took a moment to think on it. "I think it would be fun to attempt laser tag in the botanical gardens."

Yes, she was thinking of the one back home in New York. "If that could actually work, that is."

Alex was there, seriously excited about getting her laser tag on every week. This was quickly becoming her favorite class, no question.

Alex took a minute to study the platform's layout and attempted to find some cover, as she listened (and occasionally looked out) for any of her classmates.

Since that was where Rick's mind first leapt at the mention of botanic gardens, he immediately started turning it over in his mind. "We'd have to pick a section of them, rather than the whole thing."

And really, they didn't need this to be any more awkward than running around pretending to shoot each other already was. Kyle stopped and listened, head tilted, to see if Alex was going to make a noise. When he thought he heard something, he held his breath and peeked out around a corner.

Alex nodded. "Definitely. It'd be fun to try out, whatever section we end up in." Alex's love for the city was showing.

It just so happened that Alex did make a noise when he went to see where Kyle was. It was a stupid noise, of course, made when he went to sling his gun up and actually banged it against one of those stupid blue things.

And then he cursed. Like an idiot. And then he cursed at having cursed before. No one was going to hire him for any military help anytime soon. He just hoped he was blocked enough to make any shot hard for Kyle.
