Sam had enjoyed having a little time off, but he was even happier to be back in the library, even if he didn't have anything pressing to do today. He found a few books on New York City and settled in behind the desk to read. Sure, Peter would probably be able to answer any questions he ended up having, but the less he had to ask about, the better he'd feel.

So Dean wasn't going to ignore the chance to check up on his little brother, so around lunchtime he showed up with a bag of food and plopped himself down in the chair opposite Sammy for all the world like it hadn't been almost a year since he'd done so. "Hey, Sammy," he said, pushing one bag across the table to him. "Whatcha reading now?"

Sam glanced up from his book, took in the sight of Dean with a bag of food, and grinned. "Juat some stuff about New York," he said. "It's embarrassment prevention so I'm not a total dork when I move. Don't you have a class you should be planning?"

"Already planned," Dean said, with a grin. "More or less. First one's easy anyway -- it's just getting to know everybody. You ready to help teach the new generation about sex, Fandom style?"

"I'm ready to help correct what you're going to teach, and to cover what you won't, yeah," Sam said.

Dean snorted. "Yeah, like you know more than me about sex." He gave Sammy a sly look. "And don't worry, in case you find the job too ornerous, I got another TA to help you."

Sam rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I know, Chuck told me the good news," he said. "I guess I'll be the good TA, and he can be the bad one."

"Or the other way around, depending on your point of view," Dean teased. "Given the subject matter, I mean."

"Hey, Peter's got no complaints," Sam pointed out. "I meant I'm the one who's not a jerk when it comes to sex."

"Yeah, but that's not really fair to Chuck," Dean said. "He's a jerk when it comes to everything."

"Which is why I'm going to be the good TA because I'm not a jerk about anything," Sam replied.

"Except keeping secrets from your big brother," Dean put in.

"Are you going to hold that over my head forever?" Sam asked. Because two weeks was totally forever.

"Maybe. At least until I'm sure you're not going to do it again," Dean told him.

"I'm really not feeling encouraged to tell you everything under the sun," Sam said. "Not if you're going to make me feel guilty about keeping something from you that would make you worry and freak out."

"The point that you seem to be missing is that you keeping something from me is making me freak out a lot more than any freaking I could've done if you'd just told me," Dean pointed out.

"So, you wouldn't have flipped out and told me to stop?" Sam asked. "You wouldn't have driven out here to knock some sense into me?"

"I would've wanted to know more about what you were doing at least," Dean said. "But, y'know, better than how I'm not sure I can trust you when you tell me something. Which is kinda where I'm sitting now."

"Is there anything you want to know now?" Sam asked. "If you want to know more, I'll tell you, if it'll help with the trust thing."

"It would be a start, yeah," Dean told him.

"Okay, what do you want to know?" Sam asked. "I want you to trust me again, I swear."

"Everything," Dean said. "What all can you do?"

"Uh, let's see. I still have the visions, but now I've got telekinesis too, and strength. And, uh, mind control, sort of." If Dean wanted honesty, he was going to get it.

Dean raised his eyebrows. "Sort of?"

"It's like...I can tell someone to do something and they'll do it. Like look the other way if I don't have a passport," he said. "That's the only time I've really used that power, getting me and Peter to and from Ireland."

"So like the old guy in Space Battles?"

"Yeah. And like Andy," Sam said. "Everything I can do is what the other kids like me can do too."

"So Andy's running around telekenetically premonitioning now too?"

"Uh, not exactly," Sam said. "Everybody's got their own power, like Andy's got the mind control thing and I have my visions. If we try though, we can do everything the others can do. At least, that's how it's worked for me. Andy...he managed to do this thing with electricity, but he didn't really have a reason to learn more like I did."

"And what do you mean by learn? How did that work?" Dean asked.

"I...I got the idea from the Supernatural books," Sam explained. "I wanted to have an arsenal of skills to go up against Sylar. There's actually not much learning involved. It's sort of...I try to do it and then it works, like flipping a switch."
