The Lawn | Noon Onward!

With graduation festivities occurring over the weekend, the school administration expected most of the graduation guests to begin arriving today. To ensure guests felt welcomed, Barney's student council minions had set up a small gathering on the lawn where the guests could arrive, mingle, and feign relaxation before heading off with their graduates.

Or where they could all hear about how George got the makeouts with his girl the night before. Someone was a little chatty while hefting the tables and chairs that would serve guests well for getting a load off after travel, and Barney thought it was a tale worth sharing. For the hungry and forgetful, there were finger foods and nametags spread out on a long table. It was time to get the all-weekend grad party started!

He made a face. "Yeah. Your dad has lousy taste in planets."

"I hear it's not so bad," she said, though she'd be the first to admit that Tenel Ka was maybe not the most unbiased person there.

"Maybe without the Nightsisters," Luke mused, "but it wasn't the best first impression."

Yeah, she remembered them. Luke wasn't done with them, either. "Okay, you've got a point there," she admitted seriously. "But at least you're off the planet?"

Luke nodded, looking relieved. "And Zsinj ~~wtf kind of name is that~~ is dead." He grinned. "And your parents are engaged."

"...That's weird," she decided, trying once again to wrap her brain around that and finding that no, no it wasn't happening.

"I could go back and try to convince your mom to marry Isolder instead..." he threatened.

"No. That's..." Wrong for so many reasons, among them the fact that Jaina herself had almost ended up having to marry the guy. "Just no."

"Good," Luke said. "Because I think I'd have to marry Teneniel then and, um, no."

"No," she said, shaking her head. "I'm very stuck on the concept of 'no' here."

"Enough about me, then," Luke said, "especially since you already know it. How are you?" His eyes tracked onto hers. "I met Leia. You okay?"

"With Tiny Mom? Definitely. Should I not be?"

In every other aspect, people showing was definitely helping her mood.

"I don't know," Luke said. "She's younger than you, isn't she? That's got to be a little odd."

Beat.

"Tiny Mom?"

"Um. It's how I differentiate between her and my mom." And it was all Mara's fault. Because she'd met him. Yeah. "It was weird. I think I'm used to it now. After three years of weirdness, I think I'm just rolling with it."

Luke laughed. "I might have to use that, at least in my comlink so I don't call the wrong one. Are you heading home right away?" He glanced around. "And is your mom here?"

"No, but Dad is. I was a little worried about how things would go if we had two Leias here, so Mom stayed home," she explained. "And I'm sticking around for a little while. Not sure how long yet, but I'm not leaving with Dad as previously anticipated." Once upon a time.

Luke smiled. "Who's keeping you?"

It was still a little weird to admit it. "John's still off doing his work. It's easier for me right now to stay here."

"As long as you're happy," Luke said.
