World Mythology -- Third Period -- Monday

"Congratulations," Ghanima said as everyone arrived. "You've made it through yet another semester relatively intact."

"As any of you know who have taken my classes before, I don't believe in finals," she continued. "Either you have learned from the material or you have not, and making you cram for a test is no indication of your intelligence levels."

"So instead, I want to hear from you today. I'd like everyone to take a moment to stand up and share with us one myth from this class that resonated with them, and why. I am not requiring a verbal defense of a thesis, but heartfelt honesty is appreciated, when approaching the mythos of a culture."

[OCD has arrived!]

Leda pored through her notes (such as they were) to see which myth resonated with her the most.

This was her last class with Professor Atreides. See, there were totally things that made Jaina sad about the end of her senior year.

Karla stood. "I enjoyed the conversations around the Oresteia the most," she said quietly. "The myth wasn't pleasant, but it raised a lot of questions that were interesting to think about." Even as Karla had wanted to just go back and smack them all. "As for the myths that resonated most closely with me, that would be the ones about the Dreaming and the Songlines, as they're very close to what I know from my own culture. It was nice, to find something I recognized in the myths of this world."

"The Native American myths, I think, appealed to me the most," Tahiri said after several minutes' deliberation, "because their beliefs in the Great Mystery come the closest to what we believe about the Force. Although I have to say I find the aboriginal stories almost as fascinating because of the way the land itself factors into their beliefs. To them, everything is connected, and it's familiar."

She smiled slightly. "I find that comforting."

"The Babylonian creation myths," Joolushko said after some thought. "It is always interesting to see how a culture explains its existence and the existence of its world."
