Outdoor Fitness and Strategy [Monday, Period One]

The class had gotten an email to come down to the Danger Shop for this class, where they would have found Bond and a rather large jumping castle in the shape of the school

"Good morning, class and guests," Bond greeted them, looking far too pleased with himself. "Due to the not-entirely-unexpected events of the weekend, today's planned class has undergone some restructuring."

He gestured towards the jumping castle. "You may all make use of the provided equipment, just try to keep your progeny from getting into too much trouble."

"What do you think I should use?" Sascha asked curiously. "Guns don't work, you know." He looked around then focused in on Professor Bond. "The old man?"

Kyle couldn't resist a grin at that. Somehow he didn't think Bond would take being called an old man too well. "Yeah, that guy. He's pretty badass. If there were any bad guys, he probably scared them off. But if guns don't work, ask someone who would know and figure it out. Make stuff up. Learn how to do it yourself."

"So I should ask mama and papa," he concluded. "I could make stuff up! Maybe I could make up a way to kill all of them at once and then I'd be a hero and a good guy."

He paused. "Papa doesn't like it when I say badass. I dunno what it means."

"That's okay," Kyle assured him. "You should probably listen to your mom and dad. That's how you get better at stuff. You watch and listen to the people who are already good at it and work it out from there. And make sure you train yourself up. You gotta work hard. You can do that, right?"

"I can do that," Sascha agreed seriously. "I already trained today with mama and papa. And I got twelve more years to learn." Not that he was counting down or anything. "How old are you?"

"I'm sixteen, I think." He thought for a moment. "I might be seventeen now. I'm not too sure."

"If you had your birthday, you're seventeen," Sascha told him seriously.

He liked this kid. "I don't know when my birthday is. But I've been here for almost a year and I was sixteen when I got here, so I guess I have to be seventeen now. Probably around the same age as your mom and dad. Are they here?"

"Seventeen's good," Sascha informed him. "You're a big kid but not too old yet." He rolled his eyes dramatically at the question. "Duh! I'm too little to go here!"

"That part I worked out, but you seem like the kind of guy who likes to go exploring." He jerked his head towards the bouncy castle. "And this is a pretty good place to explore. Who's keeping an eye on you today?"

"It's fun too! But I can't have a bouncy castle in my room even though I won't hit my head on the ceiling cause I'm too little," he said. Then remembered the question. "Mama's here! She's -" he pointed at Rose without really looking for her "-there!

Kyle looked up at where Sascha was pointing. Blindly knowing where she was didn't seem to surprise him too much. Star had a sixth sense about things too. Kyle figured that was normal. He tried not to grin and failed. "I can kind of see the resemblance. "Hey Rose!" Kyle waved.

"Hey Kyle," Rose called back, finding her way over to them. "You teaching my kid about making people's doors disappear and other trouble making things?"

Sascha looked up instantly at Kyle. "What kind of trouble?"

"Only the kind that doesn't hurt anybody," he reassured Sascha. "We were just making sure there were no bad guys around."

"There aren't any," Sascha informed helpfully. "The old man made sure. Kyle says he's really good."

Kyle nodded towards Bond. "Scared them all away."

"Mr Bond?" Rose asked, starting to laugh. "Don't call him an old man, Sascha, okay?" For one, he was way too hot. She shook her head.

"This is so weird, Kyle. I don't even know. Did you end up with any -" she gave Sascha a warm glance "- completely impossible kids?"

Kyle shook his head. "No one came for me. I don't think I'd have kids anyway."

She glanced down at Sascha who was distracted by something in the room. "Yeah. I won't either. He's genetically impossible." Rose shrugged then gave Kyle a teasing smile. "Maybe they're just waiting for next year to descend."

"Or maybe they had enough sense to stay at home," Kyle countered. Or maybe they were busy leading the human Resistance against the machines after the foibles of time travel, but he was oblivious to that.

"Why would they wanna?" Sascha asked finally, refocusing on the conversation.

He was only being flippant at the time, but Sascha's question brought up a good point. "They wouldn't be able to walk through a portal. The way they'd have to come back here would hurt a lot."

Rose raised her eyebrows a little, studying Kyle curiously.

"Right," he nodded at Sascha. "And if the portal home might go somewhere that was safe a few days ago, but not safe when they got back. And I wouldn't want them to come like that either."
