cafeteria | mid afternoon | wednesday | 31 march

After his class (where he'd played an awful Simon), Jonas had slipped into the cafeteria to grab some food and do some idle reading. Unfortunately, the book got ignored while Jonas poked at the rather odd looking concoction on his plate. The server had said it was butternut squash casserole but Jonas couldn't help wondering if that was true or not. It just looked so strange.

Jonas nudged the food with a fork, half expecting it to come to life. When it didn't, he felt some relief but still not enough to eat it. For the first time in his life, Jonas actually thought his cooking might be safer than trying something he didn't recognize.

"Right." Jonas eyed the casserole for a minute or two longer before he chanced a bite. That chance had him immediately scrunching his face up in distaste. "That's...not good at all."

"And once again, the American teenager is forced to choose between healthy food and tasty food," Kurt commented. "I think for me, today is a vending machine lunch day."

"I believe I have some leftover pizza from this weekend in my room," Jonas said, already planning on finishing that off. "I figured out how to order when we couldn't really leave the dorms."

"For you, I'm sure it is easy," Jonas told him, shrugging. "I'd never really done it before. Not on my own. We didn't have pizza places or takeout food where I'm from."

Kurt shrugged. "And now you know how, so it is easy for you, too!"

He gave Jonas a thoughtful look. "I don't remember -- where ARE you from?"

"It's a place called the Community," Jonas told him, picking at the casserole some more. "I don't think you'd know it. So far, no one does."
