When the students entered the classroom today, they wouldn't see their regular teacher but a man decked out in full uniform, looking slightly worried after listening to last night's radio broadcast.

"Good morning," he greeted cordially. "I know some of you know me and others don't so, for those that don't, I am Constable Benton Fraser of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Here, I'm more likely known as the head of security and today, I'm filling in for your professor who has had to take a leave of absence. For today, we'll be watching a movie since the administration knows this change is sudden and we don't want to throw you right into learning with a new teacher just yet. Rest assured, more substantial lessons will follow. For now, just enjoy the movie."

He paused for a moment, debating whether or not to say something further. In the end, he thought it best to just say it. "And please do be careful out there. It's rather...eerie."

"Is Professor Chevalier okay?" Claire asked.

"As far as I know, he is," Fraser answered, nodding. "He didn't say otherwise when he requested his leave of absence. So, I'd certainly hope he remains that way."

"So he wasn't asked to leave or anything?" Claire double-checked. She hadn't really heard any backlash from the whole outing him as a vampire thing but she would feel bad if that was the case.

"Not at all," Fraser assured her, shaking his head. "He made the request and we were happy to provide him some time off. As of right now, we expect him back at some point in the future."

"Okay, good," Claire said with a little sigh of relief. "I couldn't help but worry."

"There's no need to worry," Fraser said. And then had to clarify, "There's no need to worry about that. He's still a member of our faculty as far as the administration is concerned."

The clarification made her smirk a little. "Yeeeah, no such thing as not worrying in Fandom," Claire said. "Especially not with this creepy fog."

"It's very disconcerting," he agreed, frowning for a moment. "And very thick. It was difficult to even make it to the school."

She nodded her agreement. "And radio last night made it sound like there is something weird going on."

Either that or a bunch of people on the island got their hands on some acid.

"Well, oftentimes, radio makes it sound like something odd is going on," he said lightly before adding, "but I agree, last night, it was even more abnormal than is typical."

"Hopefully the fog will burn off soon," Claire said.
