people suck except when they don't | thursday | period 2 | march 18

Today's class was probably relevant to every single person's interest so there was no way Loki was going to slack the fuck off even if he wanted to. So, everyone was handwavily notified to come on down to the Danger Shop for class. He waited until everyone came in and took their seats before diving into the lecture.

"Roommates," Loki started, looking over all the students. "You all probably have one. And, if you don't, consider yourself fucking lucky. Depending on your luck, having a roommate can either be a very good or a very bad thing. If you get along, that's fucking good. If you don't, that's fucking bad. The thing about roommates is that if you don't get along, you still have to live with each other at least for a little while. You're going to have to adapt and adjust and compromise. And sometimes, that's pretty fucking daunting because people are strong willed and set in their ways. They don't want to fucking compromise because some idiot won't wash their forks."

Or worse. But, Loki decided to get into that later.

"There are a couple of ways you can deal with horrible roommates," he continued. "You can fucking ignore them, make sure your schedule is completely opposite theirs so you only have to deal with each other a scant few times. You can fucking make their lives hell. Try and drive them out of the room because they're shit and not you. You can passively cower with your tail between your legs and let them walk all over you or you can do a combination of things. Really, what you do is going to depending on how shitty your roommate is. Small things can more easily be tolerated than major things. If you're a patient person, you'll be able to deal with more than if you're impatient. Pick your battles with your roommate. If you try and fight them on every single thing, you might end up duct taped to your bed and taped for YouTube. Pick your fucking battles."

Loki thought about launching into that whole single, white female realm but figured these poor kids had enough to deal with just with teenage roommate situations.

"For today's activity, I'm going to give each of you a situation. You're the roommate dealing with it and the Danger Shop is going to provide you with the problem roommate. Solve your problem. Or, if you can't do that, make sure your roommate's too fucking scared to keep causing problems."

With the lecture done, Loki gestured to the simulation and waited for everyone to get to work.

Oh, well, this was going to be easy. Karla walked into the simulation and immediately vanished every piece of pornography she could see. "I'll give it back to you tomorrow," she informed her roommate. "Next time I see it out, I'll vanish it for a week. We clear?"

"Actually, I think I just proved I can," Karla shot back, rolling her eyes. "And if you were so damned concerned about it, you wouldn't leave it everywhere, now would you?"

"Fine," Karla said, calling them in--directly over her roommate's bed. "Now then, I'm politely asking you to keep them out of sight." There wasn't anything all that polite in her glare or her tone, but she was compromising. That had to count for something, yes? "If you can't, I'll simply vanish every one I see. Deal?"

Since Karla wasn't offended by being called a virgin, she only implied 'Jackass' instead of saying it outright.

See? Compromise!

Jacob didn't think he'd have to worry about Bod doing anything like that, but he'd play ball.

"Look, we can either work out a schedule," he proposed his roommate. "Or next time I'm getting up and I'm throwing cold water over the both of you."

"Did I say cold? I mean ice cold," Jacob eyed him. "You know what that does right?"

Probably, just like he would be able to still hear even with the door locked.

"You ever tried to make out with someone knocking your door down?" Jacob shook his head. "Look, how about we work some sort of signal? Then neither of us needs to put up with the other."

Jono eyed his roommate's issue with a sort of detached sense of bemusement.

So, he mused, his roommate was, in fact, very much like himself.

Even so...

//Yer think yer could maybe pick those up,// Jono mused, stepping into the simulation, //before I'm forced to notify th'proper authorities t'have them safely disposed of?//

... Bugger. She had a point, there.

//Within reason,// he acknowledged. //Middle of th'hallway is one thing, gel. Sittin' on th'coffee table is a no-go.//

A pause.

//Not that I eat off of it, granted.//

Jono was going to have to take a moment now to squint at his flatmate to wonder if she was perhaps a touch off in the head.

Okay, moment taken.

//About as sexy as me leavin' my pants on th'bathroom floor, perhaps.//

Not the leather ones. The cotton ones he wore underneath. British.

To be perfectly honest, Elena was more amused than anything.

"Are these a hint?" she asked, flipping through one of the pamphlets idly.

Elena cleared her throat and began a dramatic reading.

" 'Safe sex is any sexual activity where semen, vaginal fluid or blood does not pass from one person to another. This means that it is much more difficult for STIs or STDs like gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, and HIV to pass from one person to another.' "

She flipped the pamphlet over. "Oooh, they've got the penis-diagrams, for condom usage."

(yes so I googled safe sex pamphlets. you knew i had issues right?)

"Have you seen this?" Elena asked cheerfully. "They show you step-by-step how to make sure you're properly putting a condom onto an erect penis. This is really important."

She was holding the diagram out for her roomie. Because the roomie seemed squeamish, and that seemed a good angle to poke.

Kurt held his nose and grimaced. "Oh, come ON, man! Why do you have to be Mister Stinky?!?!"
