DADA for Muggles [Wednesday, March 17]

Sirius and Remus were getting better at programming the Danger Room. Nothing was on fire, Sirius was only slightly miffed, and it had taken mere ~~hours~~ minutes to set up the scenario the students found themselves in--of an Irish forest with tiny green creatures wearing outfits fashioned of leaves giggling from their various hiding places.

"Since it is Saint Patrick's Day," Sirius said with a light smile on his face, "we thought we'd let you test your skills against some leprechauns from home. They are mischievous, not evil, but they will lead you on a merry chase if you'd like to capture any of their gold."

He pointed to the butterfly nets provided, stacked in a neat pile near Remus. He neglected to mention that any gold the students found would disappear within a few hours.

He smiled and clapped his hands together. "Good luck. Don't hurt them, and don't let them lead you down into bogs or anything where you could sprain your ankles."

They are totally moddable. The gold you find will disappear after a few hours.

Jonas had never seen a leprechaun in his life, photograph or not, so he had no idea what he might be looking for. Needless to say, he was a little worried he'd do badly at this activity.

Jack never quite caught a leprechaun, despite a class period of trying. They kept hopping away every time he got close enough.

He suspected he was better off that way, yet it didn't stop him from trying.

A few times, Jonas came close to catching what he thought was a leprechaun but once it disappeared behind a desk, another Jonas tripped reaching for it and another it ran under his legs and got away.

Jonas decided he would never be a leprechaun catcher.

There were some things Chuck had never thought he'd be able to say he'd done. Standing around hunting for leprechauns with a butterfly net in his hand was one of those.

It hadn't been before today, simply because it hadn't even crossed his mind.

Proto glanced around curiously. In part because new things were potentially interesting, and in part because he wasn't exactly sure what he'd do with a bunch of gold.

The minute Leda heard the assignment she picked up a rock. Then he said not to hurt them and she let it drop with a little sigh.

Leda rushed by chasing a Leprechaun, her net held high. She was snickering.
