people suck except when they don't | thursday | period 2 | march 11

Loki was looking pretty fucking relaxed, all sprawled out and lounging at the desk while the students filed in. The class today was easy so he had no reason to look anything but. Once everyone arrived and took their seats, Loki started talking.

"Today, we're going to have an easy but important class. Today, we're going to talk about the oversharers." Loki had known many of these. Hell, Loki probably was one of these.

"Now, you may not pay much attention to these people in the grand scheme of things but I can guaran-fucking-tee that you will come across them and they will fucking annoy you. The type of oversharing can vary depending on the person but they can include: oversharing about their sexual shenanigans, their life stories, what they think about you, what they think about the world, and what they think about your sexual shenanigans in the scope of the world. Really, oversharing is just one of those things that you have to deal with but you wish you didn't."

Loki had heard far, far too much about how Bartleby was going to change the world, how he'd gotten the fucking shaft and how he wasn't going to take it. For the longest time, he'd been all talk, no action and Loki had invested in earplugs.

"Of course, the inverse of this might be that you are the oversharer. You're the person perfectly willing to discuss your various STD's on a first date with a guy or unwilling to shut the fuck up about your dog Skippy to the person sitting in the bus seat besides you. When that happens, you're not really seeing what you're doing as oversharing. Most of the time, you'll think of it as being friendly or being polite. It's not. It's oversharing and you need the shut the fuck up because, chances are, the other person is not interested."

Loki stopped talking and eyed the class, trying to pick out possible oversharers just from looking a them. "Today's activity is easy. Find a partner and overshare something. See how long it takes them to crack or to tell you to shut the fuck up. Person who's listening to the oversharing story? Listen to the story for as long as you can. At the first sign of annoyance, shut the other person up with non violent methods. Easy enough? Go to it.

Joan was pretty much the opposite of an over-sharer. At least she thought she was. But then again, maybe not. Maybe it was just about certain things that she didn't share.

Oh, god Chuck was such an oversharer. Not of dirty sexual shenanigans, because in order to overshare about that you, you know, had to be doing that. Which he wasn't. But when it came to just about everything else... It came under the realm of babbling.

He could do that. Easy.

"I guess we could give this a shot."

Jak, at least, already had the surly attitude required to cut anyone off. So, that made them a good match. Right?

Yeaaah, Chuck really needed someone to cut him off sometimes. Usually when he was talking to girls. But talking to intimidating people also worked. Jak could probably fit that.

"Right. Yes." He grinned, in the hope somehow it would rub off on his new partner. Maybe he just needed the encouragement? "You want to talk... or, should I?"

"I'm not really much of a talker," Jak admitted.

You know. In case that wasn't yet completely obvious.

Claudia figured this would be pretty easy. Spending her formative years in foster homes meant she got to sit with lots of people who overshared about some pretty ridiculous or terrible stuff.

Now, what to overshare about herself?

"Think you'll be better at this than at being obnoxious?" Jacob asked, grinning at her.

"You want me to overshare? Okay, lemme think," he hummed thoughtfully as he tried to think of something gross. Gross stuff. Hrm. "I hate this zit once. It was huge and right in my armpit. I'm telling you, when that sucker popped..." He was making hand gestures and everything.

furnaceface: (Told you so)

Oh, Jono was good at this. Seriously, now.

He looked perhaps even a little thoughtful about what in the world he was going to overshare about while he looked around for a partner.

Well, Makita might overshare. If she was drunk. And you asked about her boyfriend or her guns.

Makita really liked talking about weaponry.

Jono was fairly good at oversharing when he was in one of his moods.

... It was not difficult to get Jono into one of his moods. Fear.
