Magical Ethics: Week 9, Period 1
Alysha was absolutely exhausted as the class came in. It had nothing - well, okay, it had everything to do with the weekend, but mainly because every single Auntie had called to to yell at her for being completely unavailable all weekend. The number of Gale aunties and the amount they could lecture meant that it had been a very, very, very, very long Monday.
The random crack of thunder that apparently only Alysha could hear just emphasized the Aunties' pissiness. Though it wasn't like even a Gale could stop this island from making whatever mischief it seemed intent on making.
Therefore the lecture was short.
"A lot of religions and other ethical systems have 'honor thy father and mother' as a tenet," Alysha said. "Pay attention to your elders. Do their bidding and respect them. The question I have for you today is 'how far?'"
And she went to sit on her desk to listen to the discussion.

Re: Listen to the Lecture [3-9]
Hated.
She didn't want to think about being called Mother after the weekend. Or honouring their wishes. Or anything like that.

Discussion [3-9]
Possibly not such a 'magical' question.
Re: Discussion [3-9]
"That depends, I guess," he managed. "Do they want calamity?"
Re: Discussion [3-9]
Ino was just going to sink down in her chair as far as possible and try not to look at him or even breathe in his direction or do anything to remind him of the fact that, uh, yeah...
Well.
She'd been Mother. Augh.

"And then trying to force you to feel them anyway is wrong." Savannah said quietly. "Just because they're the elder doesn't mean that they are entitled to those feelings. If they do something to lose them..."
Okay, so someone had some issues.
Re: Discussion [3-9]
"It's one thing when we're children. But as soon as we leave childhood behind, we have the duty to begin thinking for ourselves anyway."

"I don't think that it's right to automatically honor and respect the wishes of your elders unless they have shown that they are deserving of that respect."
Eve, Paige, Lucas, Benicio and most of the teachers at Fandom had her respect.
The people of her father's family besides Sean? Not so much.
