Library [02/14]

Jono wasn't humming to himself when he opened up the library today, but that was only because his lack of vocal cords made things like that into a total impossibility.

He had plans for tonight. Plans with Didi, whose birthday was today, and who he'd said that 'L' word to yesterday with no serious repercussions (part of him had expected her to laugh in his face at it. That part of him was dumb), and he really didn't have any complaints about today.

Once he'd managed to get everything organized for the day, he took a seat, picked up one of his favourite books, and contented himself to read until the end of his shift, unless he was needed elsewhere.

[The library is open! And I'm one of those people with no huge romantic plans for the day, so fire at will.]

He's reading Vonnegut again. There's a part in this particular book that he could always relate to, about why the main character always hid his head under the covers when his mother came to visit him.

'She upset Billy simply by being his mother. She made him feel embarrassed and ungrateful and weak because she had gone to so much trouble to give him life, and to keep that life going, and Billy didn't really like life at all.'

Jono hit that part on a high-gloss, today. He just couldn't seem to relate to it at the moment, which was new and somewhat exciting for him.

Yes, Jono was in that good a mood.

Lunch

Jono is still reading. There doesn't seem like much of a point to putting down his book to pretend that he's going to do something like go and get food, after all.

Afternoon

And now, he's finishing the book, reading about Dresden and space aliens and leaps through time and people dying. So it goes.

And maybe he's wondering if he has time to start on another book before his shift comes to an end.

So, so much love for Slaughterhouse-Five. I'd read it again if I didn't have Cat's Cradle and then a small stack of Pratchett books to get through, too.

Henry was here, for values of 'here' that involved calling Clare every other hour or so and spending the rest of the time missing her like a lost limb.

He'd noticed the kid's reading on the way in. He approved.
