Newspaper meeting, Friday after classes, Journalism Room [2/12]

For the first meeting of the semester, Hoshi had gone all out with assorted pastries from J,GOB, coffee and hot chocolate from The Perk, and even some homemade mochi.

"I'd normally suggest introductions, but I think we all know each other by this point," said Hoshi, smiling at the rest of the staff. "So, how about we get down to business? What should we be doing this semester for the newspaper, and what should we put together for next week's paper? I want to hear your ideas."

Because the best ideas evolve out of conversations.

"Someone could do an article about the Valentine's Day dance," Joan suggested.

"I kind of like the idea of an expose of how the liquor gets into the punch with no one noticing," said Hoshi.

Joan chuckled. "That would be awesome if someone could figure it out."

"I agree that there should be a Valentine's Day dance article," Ellie said, nodding. "And maybe something about the gremlin attacks a few weeks ago?"

"I've had an idea for a special themed issue all about the gremlin menace," said Hoshi. "Stuff about why gremlins bite and how to deal after getting bitten."

"I'm going to keep doing my recipe columns, but I'd like to see the horoscopes return," suggested Hoshi. "I'd also like to see interviews with any of the new teachers."

"Maybe we could do spotlights on the businesses in town," Ellie suggested. "Or maybe the school clubs?"

"I really like the idea of spotlights on businesses," said Hoshi.

"I could write something about the hotel," Ellie said. "That could be an easy one to start with."

Because she worked there.

"I'm sure Miss Connell would love to talk about the hotel," said Hoshi. "I could also talk to Miss Lulu about her plans for Café Fina, though I might hold off on it for next week's issue."

"I'll see if I can set up an interview with the new librarian," Joan offered.

"Awesome!" said Hoshi. "That leaves two more teachers we can cover in future issues."

Yay first meeting! Sorry to get this posted so late, but I overslept by quite a bit this morning and still haven't had my coffee.
