It was the day of the club fair, so of course Jean was going to be there bright and early to make everything was set up like it should be. What kind of over-achiever would she be without that?

So, the gym was neatly set up and ready for everyone to arrive and look over what new and old clubs there were this semester.

. . . yeah, get back to Gabrielle on that Gladiators thing in about three years (or twenty-eight, if you wanted to count the time she was going to spend frozen in ice wtf) after she and Varia ended up inventing the Amazon version of the MMA. For now she was going to stand there and sputter and not actually voice the That's Roman, not Greek objection she wanted to make.

"You have to have me mistaken for someone else." Like that cranky hoarse-voiced girl, maybe. "I'd love to be part of the group, but I'm not interested in girls that way, personally."

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. Still, it kind of went against the whole point of the group to tell somebody they were oh so wrong about their sexuality, even if Emmett "Not One False Positive In Fifteen Years" Honeycutt's gaydar said honey, you're soaking in it.

Which didn't mean he wouldn't ever do it. Just not now.

"You're interested in girls in the way of being one, right? That'll do just fine." (Honestly even if she wasn't, it would do just fine. Go genderqueers.)

"Well, I'd hope there wouldn't be qualifications for joining, at least," she decided. "Now, what are you going to need me to do?"

"Nothing that involves mandatory kissing of other women," Emmett confirmed. "Just hang out, mostly. Listen to people if they need it. Organize trips, maybe? Help think up fun stuff to do that doesn't involve cock." He needs to stop being so subtle, our Emmett. (He also needs to stop sounding skeptical at the last concept he just outlined.)

Gabrielle -- yeah, don't ask how that particular bit of slang translated across 3000 years, okay? Just go with it, so the disbelieving look she gave him made sense.

"I happen to be good at sensitive chats," she offered immediately. "And organizing, and -- there's a lot I happen to be good at, actually."

Sometimes she just had to remind people. It made her feel better.

"And I happen to be good at cock! We're a perfect team!" ...He should probably introduce himself. "I'm Emmett, and I'm actually not bad at sensitive chats too. I'm boy-crazy, not shallow."

"Uh . . . huh." Just smile and nod, Gabrielle. Smile and nod. "Gabrielle, sophomore, and I have a horrible track record with boys."

...Yeeeeeah. "Me too. The sophomore part, not the track record." Maybe he could...nudge? "Define horrible?"

"Well, there is the part where most of them seem to wind up dead . . ." Not that she was frustrated by that or anything.
