Study Hall, Wednesday [02/03]

Ziva had everything set up for study hall early this week, but instead of studying for her citizenship test, she was working on a translation that had "unofficially" found its way to her inbox. Page after page of badly written Arabic would have been enough of a challenge on its own, but Abby's e-mail made it clear that they were short on time. She didn't know if the e-mail came from Abby because Ziva couldn't say no to her, but there wasn't really time to think about that right now.

Ziva tried to skim through the documents, but some of the material was too complicated, and she didn't have a choice but to settle in and start at the beginning.

Surely someday Leda would realize that first period was not the best time for her to come in here and try to study. Especially not the morning after happy time.

The coolness of the desk was soothing to her. At least until it stopped being cool.

Ziva noticed how Leda was sitting, and set her papers aside to go over to her. "Leda? Are you feeling all right?"

"Wha? Oh, hi." Leda straightened. "Just had a long night last night is all. How are you?"

"I am quite all right. I wish you felt the same way," Ziva said. "Is there something wrong?"

Right this moment or with life in general? "No," she lied. "I was up late playing with my new motorcycle. Oh! I got a motorcycle for Christmas." Her own increase in volume was a mistake.

"You did?" Ziva said, perking up. "What kind of motorcycle?"

"It's a plum black Triumph Bonneville." she said proudly. ~~Yay canon for being that specific!~~ "And at the moment, it's got no wheels. It's got a spell on it so it hovers."

"A hover motorcycle?" Ziva asked, trying to imagine that. "Does that make it go faster, or slower?"

"Faster and smoother. And quieter, though you can make it make noise if you want."

"Oh, that sounds like fun. I'll have to keep an eye out for you riding around so I can see it," Ziva said.

"I'll try to get some riding in tomorrow. Though not as late I guess."

"That would be a wise idea. You need your rest," Ziva said. "And you know that if anything were to be wrong, you could speak to me about it, yes?"

Leda wasn't sure there was anything Ziva could do about the particular things troubling her. Probable parents disowning her, losing her magic, that sort of thing. "I do. And I appreciate it, thank you."

Ziva was muttering to herself as she worked back and forth from the documents to her translation. It helped her work, really.

Ziva's muttering had turned to quiet complaints about people who couldn't wrte legibly if they had to get out of a bag, or whatever that saying was.

After his class, Spock reported to study hall to work on his other homework. He had theorems to prove and an assigned essay on Klingon social customs.

Klingons made no sense whatsoever, as far as he could tell.

The study hall was open for lunch, and Ziva was taking a short break before the words she was reading started swimming together too much.

Now that Ziva knew what the documents were all about, she was working faster. The translation really did have to get back to Abby right away.

Ziva finished with only half an hour to spare, which gave her time to send a more friendly letter to Abby with the translation.

Despite what she's working on, she can certainly be interrupted.

I haaaaate oversleeping!
