Outdoor Fitness and Strategy [Monday, Period One]

"Good morning, class," Bond began with a grin that was not in the least bit sadistic. "I do hope you didn't exhaust yourselves too much over the weekend, as we're going to be doing some cross-country running today."

He gestured to a line of bright plastic marker flags spaced a few feet apart. "As you can see I've marked out a course for you through the preserve." A loopy, twisting course covering as much of the preserve as possible. "Nothing too strenuous, given we don't really have greatly uneven terrain on that part of the island, but it should provide something of a challenge. The course ends at the gym, so that anyone who wishes to use the facilities there after we're finished can."

"Do be careful though, the melt from the last few days' snow has made things rather slippery out there."

And halfway into the run, Jonas stopped trying to not think bad thoughts about this activity especially when he was clomping through mud and trying to avoid falling flat on his face.

The mud was annoying, but not less real. She was grateful she stuck for her tunics for these classes.

Robin had a very easy time with the mud, since he weighed very little. Though before he'd gotten halfway through the course, he was reduced to walking and occasional hops to make up the distance.

Stupid post-chicken pox exhaustion.

After spending the weekend swimming in chocolate, running through mud wasn't Sam's idea of an ideal way to spend the class period, but at least it only went up to his knees, and not his waist.

Zayne was happy about two things right now. First, the fact that he didn't wear long robes to this class. Second, the fact that his boots came up to his knees. If nothing else, this meant he wasn't likely to end up barefoot by the end of the period.

Mud washed out. If she had worn expensive clothes to her morning work-out, it would be her own stupid fault for ruining them anyway.

Elena kicked back and let the endorphins take over.

Gwynn was happy to be running a course like this. It prevented heavy thinking.
