Magical Ethics: Week 2, Period 1
Alysha sat at her desk as the students came in, flipping through what might've looked like an art book if any of the students looked closerly.
She looked up right as the clock flipped to eight. "Everyone have their coffee today?" she asked. "Or, I dunno, gone for a run to wake up?" Screw running, ugh.
"Just so everyone knows, Edmund Pevensie and Tony Foster are the TAs for this class. Which means if you have a question, they might be able to help with it, and if I'm not around, they'll get to run the class from my notes." She grinned. "Hopefully both gentlemen can read chicken scratching."
She stood up, moving around to the front of the desk and leaned back against it. "I said last week we'd get to introductions, and here we are. What I'd like to hear from all of you is your name, your class, and two things you can do better than other people. Can be magic or special abilities, doesn't have to be and one thing you're bad at. So - I'm Alysha Gale which most of you should already know. I'm 24 which means I already had to deal with high school, and I bake the best rhubarb pie in my family -" wow, Auntie Ruby would argue with that, but she wasn't there "- and I can identify just about any Sumerian artifact out there." Thank you, ROM and your crappy grant funding. "I'm pretty crap at making potions."
"Also I want to know what you think the worst thing a person can do is."
Because that was really the kicker sometimes.
She pointed to a random student. "You first."

Activity [1-12]
And the worst thing a person could do.
(might as well save the kicker for the end, huh?)
Re: Activity [1-12]
"My name is Karla and I'm 15. I'm the best at tormenting my cousin and playing cradle," most pathetic 'bests' ever "and I'm bad at being a lady."
As for the worst thing a person could do..."I think the worst thing someone can do is to twist and destroy others solely, especially for profit or ambition. To break their minds and their spirits--never mind whatever they do to the flesh--until that person is lost in the Twisted Kingdom, unable to ever be whole again. Killing is kinder."

Re: Activity [1-12]
"Princess Azula," she began, the speech almost rote. "Sixteen. I'm the best at leading an invasion, I'm an even better Firebender. People claim I do not play well with others."
Or stay sane but she wasn't going to advertise that.
"I'd consider you a worm beneath my boot if you betray the Fire Nation."
The one crime, really, Azula can't forgive. Lie, cheat, scheme for the Fire Nation but never against it.

"Tara Maclay," she began. "S-sixteen. I'm good at reading auras and taking care of people. I'm n-not very good at public speaking."
This was self-evident.
"I think the worst thing someone could do is lie to someone they say they love about something important."

"I'm Griffin, sixteen, and I'm quicker than most and decent at drawing." Not so bad, he could deal. "I'm terrible at cooking, even after a class in it, and the worst thing a person can do is not be there when needed."

In response to the question she replied, "I think the worst thing a person can do is deliberately hurt someone for their own enjoyment,"

Re: Activity [1-12]
"Yamanaka Ino and I'm sixteen," Ino said finally, doodling absently on a bit of paper because this? This was uncomfortable. "I guess I'm probably best at flower arranging and speaking my mind?"
Sure, that worked. It'd go over better than her real best anyway.
"I'm bad at losing." True enough. "And the worst thing someone could do? Betrayal of an oath they swore in good faith." It was, after all, an entirely different ballgame if they swore that oath from the start as a spy. Ino could only approve of that.

"The worst thing you can do is to lie selfishly."

"I'm Beka Cooper," she said. "I'm 17. I'm bad at riding horses. I've no love for them, nor do they for me. There's naught I'm better at than anyone else."
She hesitated. "There's much a person can do that's bad, but killing a babe may be worse of all."

Hang your head in shame, Zack.
"And the worst thing that a person can do..." He frowned faintly. "Lose sight of their honor. If they protect their honor, then none of the rest of it will ever need to be a concern."
