Study Hall, Wednesday [01/06]

Ziva opened up the study hall, and set out some drinks for the students before settling down at one of the computers. If she was really going to stay in this country, then she needed to investigate becoming a citizen...assuming she could get the computer to work without hitting it too much, of course.

After beating on the computer a few times, it seemed to be running fast enough for Ziva to start gathering information about naturalization. Her father would have a fit, but that was a bonus, not a deterrent.

Leda had come in with the intention of studying. But she'd chosen a poor time to do it, and soon she was asleep with her forehead resting on the open book in front of her and her hands in her lap.

Ziva quietly read through the websites she'd found, nursing her second cup of coffee as she planned out what she might need to study.

There was a whole section about speaking proper English on the site Ziva was looking at now, but she was ignoring it. Surely, she wouldn't have any problems with that part of the test.

Mulan wanted to learn as much as she could about the technology of this time. That's why she was currently sitting down, staring at the box in front of her. She'd figure it out. Eventually.

Hopefully without setting it on fire by accident or something like that.

Oh, look, a distraction! "Are you having trouble with that?" Roy asked.

Mulan looked over at the boy speaking to her and gave a slight, sheepish smile. "A little bit, yes. I have never seen anything like this before."

"Different time or place?" Roy asked, smiling at her.

"Very different," Mulan replied. "This kind of technology does not exist yet where I'm from. There isn't even electricity there."

"Whoa," Roy said. "Yeah, that's different, all right. I'm Roy, by the way. So, what do you want to know? I'm a modern guy, I can help."

"Well, I'm not really sure how this works," Mulan admitted. "Any of it."

She still hadn't even figured out how to turn it on, yet.

"The power button's here," Roy said, indicating said button. "You just push it."

((It is a computer, right? Because it just says 'box.'))

"Oh, that seems a lot more simpler that I would have thought," Mulan replied, the sheepish smile returning. "Thank you. I'm Mulan, by the way. Are you a new student, too?"

[yep, it's a computer!]

"Brand spankin'," Roy agreed, then realized she might not get slang and said, "I mean, yes. So, okay, this is your basic computer, and it takes a little bit to boot up. You know how it takes you a little while to get going in the morning? Same thing, kind of."

"Oh, I know that very well. It's the reason I was always late to wherever I needed to be," Mulan chuckled, glancing at the screen to see what it did next.

While the computer cycled through startup, Roy said, "Okay, so, this is the monitor, this is where you'll see what's happening, and this is the mouse, which controls a cursor, which is a thingy you'll see in a minute, and the keyboard, which is so you can type. Stuff." Roy paused. "I might not actually be the best guy to explain all of this," he admitted reluctantly.

Mulan shrugged and grinned. "Well, you know a whole lot more about it than I do."

Okay, so, geometry. Take two. Hopefully this time without chicks randomly going off at him for thinking. Roy could totally do this. Totally.

Right after it started making a lick of sense, anyway...

Alex decided to use her time wisely -- and boy, would she be questioning herself later -- and make an appearance in study hall.

She found herself a table and settled in to look over some information she collected on spells, charms and other things of a magical nature. Alex had her laptop with her and every so often, she'd look something up online and then go right back to her notes.

Ziva pulled herself away from the computer for a little while, to work on some ideas for Gibbs' class.

While Ziva pulled away from a computer, Jack found his way to one after Dark Arts class and settled in with a language CD. Awful fight with Karla or not, he still needed to study and this seemed to be the place to do it.

There was no class this period, but Ziva stuck around just in case, throwing a few glares at the computer when it didn't seem to want to shut down properly.

If you need her for something during the course of the day.
