BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Timing had worked in Bruce's favor this morning. After a long overnight flight from Japan, he was really early for the shuttle to Fandom. That was according to plan. This way he'd get to see how people came into the room marked "Fandom High," whether they were nervous, or excited, or annoyed at the very thought of having to go to school.

Those first impressions didn't necessarily mean anything, but Bruce felt they often gave a good insight into how his new classmates would react in a stressful situation. You never knew when that kind of thing might come in handy.

[OOC: OCD is coming up!]

"Normal kids don't go to boarding school," Kurt pointed out. "But... ja, that is us -- absolutely normal!" He flashed Warren two thumbs up.

"Or possibly slightly abnormal." A pause. "But not really noticeably or anything."

He was going to give this thumbs-up gesture a try. It was a little on the awkward side.

"Well, EVERYONE is SLIGHTLY abnormal," Kurt agreed. "But it's not like we're MUTANTS or anything."

If Warren had been eating anything, he probably would have choked on it about then much like the mun and her mouthful of peanuts ow ow ow. Fortunately, he wasn't, so the worst he had to suffer through was a slight widening of his eyes and a twitch of his wings, which were thankfully harnessed in good and tight.

"... Right. No, no mutants here. Powers and weird extra body parts and all of that? Naaah."

Kurt really needed to shut up when he was nervous. "Extra body parts, hah! Who ever heard of such a thing!"

Maybe a change of topics was in order.

"Uhhhh... so, nice weather we're having, huh? So far, Maryland looks a lot like New York."

Topic change, ahoy!

"You're from New York? I mean. You're from Germany, probably, right? But you've been to New York? I'm from there. New York. Not Germany. Obviously."

This conversation was going well.

"I'm from Bavaria," Kurt acknowledged. "But I've been going to school in New York, at the Xavier Institute. Where in New York are you from?"

Maybe namedropping would help the conversation go better?

Warren kind of froze, at that name. He'd briefly flirted with the idea of going to the Xavier Institute instead of coming here, but... Things had been going crazy the past few days, and it seemed as though now was a bad time to go to... Well. To the school that he'd heard was a safe place for mutants. That said, after the moment's hesitation, he seemed to relax a little.

"Long Island," he replied. "You know, I've heard the Xavier Institute offers... A pretty decent sort of education. For perfectly normal people." A pause. "Like... us?"

"Okay, maybe not totally normal," Kurt admitted.

"...Wait, Warren? From New York?" Kurt hadn't gone on that mission, but he HAD seen Cerebro's photograph. He lowered his voice to a whisper. "You're the Christmas angel, ja?!?! ...I thought you were older."

Christmas angel? Warren raised an eyebrow faintly. And then shrugged a little. Again. And actually managed to take a step or two away from the wall that he was backed up against.

"I'm not so sure about the Christmas part," he replied, though warily and whispering right back. "Or the older part. But the rest... Isn't so far off."

Kurt grinned and held out a hand that, if Warren shook it, would feel fuzzy and deformed.

"You can call me the Incredible Nightcrawler."

Warren blinked, and then shrugged it off and smiled, taking the boy's hand and shaking it.

"I'm liking the 'Incredible' part," he decided. And the fuzz was a little more comforting at the moment than he was about to let on. "It adds a nice ring to the rest of it."

"That's what I think, too!" Kurt smiled. "Everyone else just rolls their eyes, though."

He shrugged. "I guess I'm supposed to ask if you'd reconsider Scott's offer, but... we're both HERE, now, right? Good enough."
wwiii: (Neutral)

"Good enough," Warren agreed, with a weird sort of sideways glance.

He was fairly certain that he'd never met anyone by the name of Scott.

"Here is better than a few places I could be at the moment, really. So I'll take it."

Sure he had! Scott and Rogue were the people who'd invited him to the Institute! ...Right?

"Definitely better than being with Magneto or Mystique," Kurt agreed. "Don't worry, I've got your back."

Okay, those were names that Warren had heard. On the news. They were the 'bad guys,' more or less. And possibly some of the most terrifying mutants he'd ever heard tell of.

"Much better than being with either of them," Warren agreed. "We've got one another's backs. Okay, Kurt?"
