BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Timing had worked in Bruce's favor this morning. After a long overnight flight from Japan, he was really early for the shuttle to Fandom. That was according to plan. This way he'd get to see how people came into the room marked "Fandom High," whether they were nervous, or excited, or annoyed at the very thought of having to go to school.

Those first impressions didn't necessarily mean anything, but Bruce felt they often gave a good insight into how his new classmates would react in a stressful situation. You never knew when that kind of thing might come in handy.

"Going to Fandom High?" Bruce asked, trying to get a good read on Bod. He seemed happy, for what it was worth.

Bod gave the other boy a slight nod. If he knew the name of the school, Bod could only assume that his destination was the same as Bod's

"Yes," said Bod, managing a slight smile for Bruce. He didn't smile that often and sometimes it felt unfamiliar on his face but he'd found it easier to do over time. "There seems to be a lot of us going to the same place."

"You'll get this sometimes with boarding schools," Bruce said. "I'm a little surprised there are this many students joining us for the spring semester, though."

"You've been in boarding schools before?" asked Bod, wondering if he'd be able to pick up any new information from Bruce. Books and computers were all well and good but it wasn't actual experience.

"Well, I went to a private elementary school. Pretty much the same experience, only I lived at home," Bruce said.

Bod learned from ghosts in a graveyard and a Hound of Wolf who wasn't a good cook. His definition of normal probably didn't quite match Bruce's. Still, it was good to see that the first person he'd met wasn't turning out to be the same as previous people he'd met while attending school.

"I'm Bod," he said, finally remember to introduce himself. "I've never been to a boarding school before. You seem to have dealt with it easily enough."

Bod wasn't afraid or nervous but it was always nice to know that a new experience wasn't something he'd regret doing.

"Bruce Wayne," Bruce said, offering a hand to shake. "I haven't actually been to a normal school in a few years, but I doubt it's changed much."

Bod took the offered hand and gave it a good shake. "Was your last school abnormal in some way?"

He couldn't help the curiosity. It'd started coming naturally when he'd finally stepped out into the real world. He wanted to know everything.

"Well, my last school was a series of tutors while I was traveling," Bruce said. "Most people don't end up doing that."

Most people know but the mention of tutors actually perked Bod up a little more than he had been previously. He'd had tutors too.

"Most people don't," he agreed before adding, "but I did. I had a series of tutors back home. I thought that was how education went for awhile. Having tutors had a lot of benefits that I don't think you get in a school setting."

He kind of missed those ghosts, yeah.

"It has its advantages," Bruce said. "It's a little harder to make friends, though."

Yeah. Bruce was big on making friends. It's a good thing he was a good liar.

"I've had that difficulty even when I attended school" said Bod, shrugging one thin shoulder. Of course, there had been other reasons for that difficulty but Bod didn't go into that. "Hopefully that was the school and not me."

"From what I've seen so far, you should be fine," Bruce said.
