Swordplay - 3rd Period - 12/17

"So, it's your final class with me," Deadpool started, walking around ye olde danger shoppe as people arrived. "And I don't really get with the whole testing thing, so..."

He shrugged.

"Battle royale? Yes, yes. Danger shop keeping you safe blah blah blah don't be stupid blah blah blah--Not the point. I brought popcorn so I expect to be entertained. And no one better shout 'Are you not entertained?!' at me because I love that movie and you're not foolin' anyone with stealin' the line. Got it? Good. Now have fun."

She was still easy to read, but that speed was definitely a problem.

It meant Arthur was going to have to score on technique. He pulled out of the way, wincing as that came far too close-- dammit, fast. He lashed out with his sword instead, throwing a blow with the blunt side of the weapon against her swordhand, already moving to dart back as soon as he struck.

Triela growled as she just barely missed him. Was he taunting her? That would be just like him...

The blow on her hand didn't hurt. It didn't even reduce her effectiveness, but it did push the blade out of position. She scowled as she straightened up and stepped to her right, trying to get a better angle of attack.

He didn't wait for her to attack this time, pressing forward with one quick, harsh blow to the left, then quickly back up again, higher, towards her right shoulder.

Her speed made it easy to counter the first move with a hard block, but she wasn't experienced enough to even move to counter the second until he'd already made his move. She didn't have a feel for the patterns or rhythm of the fight, and that meant her reactions were slower than they should have been.

So her second block was awkward, forcing her to lean too far to her left to et her blade up in time, and Triela had to take a long step in that direction to recover her footing.

A couple of months ago, Arthur had been in this exact position with a woman, and he'd held back to keep her from harm. And maybe if Triela had been another girl, he might have done so again - but he'd learned his lesson this time, and as she leaned and stepped, he threw his shoulder at her now-open side, pressing his sword onwards to keep hers preoccupied.

Triela may have been strong and fast, but being slammed into while already off-balance was too much. She went down to the side, tucking and converting the fall into an awkward sort of roll in an attempt to open the distance between them and give herself a chance to recover.

She hadn't lost grip of her weapon, so Arthur found no issue with the idea of following after her, his own sword firmly in hand. Sure, he doubted he'd be able to get the incapacitating blow in now, but he had an advantage to press.

Rolling backward Triela lashed out with a boot at his leg. If she connected, great, but even if she didn't it would hopefully provide her the half-second of delay she needed to get to her feet.
