Adventures in Literature, Wednesday, Period Three [Class Sixteen]

"All right, kids," Drake greeted the class. "It's time for your favorite part of a class, finals, the part where we make or break your grade." Who was he kidding, he was a softie, he'd pass everyone. "You've got three choices for essay questions and one hour to write it. Pick one, and on your mark, get set...go!"

He snapped his fingers, conjuring a blackboard with three questions written upon it:

A. What is so damn sexy about vampires? Feel free to use examples of people you know in Fandom or back home.

B. Pick two of the following characters and make them fight. Who would win? Robin Hood, King Arthur (not the one running around here, or he may sue you for libel), d'Artagnan, Achilles.

C. Quick! Invaders from Mars are on their way to destroy your town! What three books do you grab to take with you as you escape?

Karla paused for a moment after class. "Thank you for teaching this class, Professor," Karla said, giving Drake a small smile. "I had a lot of fun yelling at the books."

"I had fun listening to you yell," Drake said. "You had some good points. And you didn't try to vanquish me, so it's all good."

"You didn't sound like you agreed with the things I was yelling at," Karla said, smile growing a little bigger. "I had no reason to try to vanquish you. If nothing else, the books helped me understand why this world is so..." she struggled to find a descriptor that wasn't 'broken' or 'seriously eff'd up' "...interesting."

"Beats the Underworld," Drake grinned. "So, think I'll see you next semester? 'Love and Romance, Hollywood Style.' That's the plan, at least."

"What's a Hollywood?" Karla asked.

"Hollywood is where they make that movie magic," Drake said. "I know, I know, I prefer reading books and using my own imagination, but there's something to be said for seeing the words come to life on the silver screen. Unless it's First Knight or something."

"Wait, there's a magic in the movies now?" Karla asked, confused. Most of her knowledge of cinema came from watching Tony's vampire show on the teevee.
