Swordplay - 3rd Period - 11/19

Deadpool had a little movie clip all set up for the class this morning before they were allowed to play smack each other around with swords. "I hope you all had a very informative and bitchy time last week while I was a dingo. Props to anyone who gave me food. And a very disappointed shake of the head toward those who didn't. For shame."

Seriously, what better time to suck up?

"So, today we'll be lookin' into usin' two swords at the same time. Not that most of you have the coordination or anything, but you can pretend to with the practice swords so I can be pretty sure you won't cut off a limb. I mean, Christ kids. Do you have any idea how messy that is? Blood everywhere! And people tend to throw up and it's just not pretty. So, check out this poor quality, mostly unbelievable example of the skill."

A beat.

"Heh, you can see the wirework. Oh, I love it when they leak this shit on the internet before it's time."

Anemone

Anemone was actually already pretty good with two knives at once, but the length of the swords was taking some time to get used to.

Still, she wasn't doing anything that would have chopped off her own arm, and she was steadily getting the hang of it.

Illyria

Illyria would not be sitting down. Though she would be quiet, save for the s'ning of blades in the air and a vague grunt of disgust that these weren't the bat'leth-like weapons she'd favored for two-handed use in times past.

Well, not precisely handed.

"Tentacles are better," she muttered, not for the first time.

Kennedy

This might have gone better if Kennedy didn't have a tendency to favor heavier blades that required the use of two hands. She wasn't stupid enough to try for a pair of those for this exercise, but the lighter swords threw her balance off enough that she looked pretty awkward going through some drills. Awkward enough that she was aware she looked kind of stupid doing it, which led to some epic crankyface.

After a few minutes of that, though, she buckled down and retreated to a side of the room to really work on getting the moves down-- at about quarter speed, which killed her to do but dammit, she wanted to get this right.

Arthur Pendragon

Well, at least this week's class was actually interesting. Despite the questionable quality of the footage. Arthur was mollified.

Arthur wasn't completely unfamiliar with the art of using two swords at once, but the level of elegance Deadpool managed with them still deserved a great deal of his envy. So this would be him, running drills with great, great care, trying to identify exactly what would help him ~~overexcel in yet another area~~ master it.

Mat had quick hands, but they were used to working with knives, not swords.

Which was why he was having some problems with today's assignment. You'd learn a lot of new curses if you stood too near him today.

"Mother's milk in a cup!" he hissed as he dropped the sword in his left hand again, nearly shaving off part of his boot.

Seregil i Korit

Seregil was used to fighting with two blades, though the second one was usually a knife. So it wasn't perfectly smooth as he was having to compensate for the longer length on the second blade than he was used to, but he would probably get the job down if it came down to a real fight.

Triela was totally scowling. If she got to carry a second weapon, it was going to be a pistol. Seriously!

Zack? Zack was bouncing! He could totally lift two swords like his own at the same time, but he wouldn't be able to get much control with them at all. So he was going to have to rise to meet the challenge of two teeny swords, which, really, looked like fun.

Eeee!

"You know, I'm pretty sure that's up there with 'flonq' in the silly curses area," Deadpool said, eying the kid and his toes.

Deadpool pointed at her for that. "You stay away from the X-23 wannabe. I'll have no naughty hentai in my class, thanks."

"Flonq?" Mat repeated.

"Flonq," Deadpool confirmed solemnly. "The future is a strange place where men wear skirts and people go to milk bars."

"Milk bars?" Mat repeated, sounding absolutely horrified. "There's no liquor?"

"I know, right? Just make sure to never survive long enough to be around in a post-Apocalypse future, okay?"

Light help Rand if the coming End of the Age killed off all the drinks. "I've always thought it was better to be alive than not, but that might almost change my mind," Mat said.

"Maybe it won't happen for you. Just avoid that Jono guy if he gets funny clown lips. We don't need any Apocalypse spawn ruining booze for everyone here."

Mat blinked. "Funny clown lips?"

Illyria frowned and experimentally twirled her swords in the manner shown in the film rather than the larger sweeps she'd have made if she actually had tentacles anymore. "What is 'hentai' and why would I care about it?"

"Oh yeah," Deadpool replied. "He'll randomly get his lower jaw back, but have this weird ass clown lipstick thing goin' on. Hold on."

Of course he needed to draw this to explain better.

"There (http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1294/emobitch.jpg) we go."

Well, he could answer that, but...

"Look it up on the internet. I'm sure there's a computer in the library you could use for that."

Somewhere, Door snickered and urged Illyria to annoy him until he not only explained it to her, but gave her free porn just to get her to shut up. Sadly, Illyria's hearing, while good, didn't extend to other dimensions - at least not anymore - so she simply narrowed her eyes and answered, "Very well."

Then muttered, "Tentacles are still better," as she twirled the swords again.

Yuffie really wanted to practice. Really wanted to.

Except, there was this screaming robot baby in her arms that just would not shut up.

Honestly, it went about as well as could be expected. Zayne escaped his own practicing with only a bruised arm.

Mat stared at the picture for a while. "That explains everything quite nicely," he said, leaving off the "you complete bloody crazy person."
