Swordplay, Thursday

"So, I've noticed folks don't wanna play all the reindeer games here. This makes me a very sad panda, people. Look at my sad panda face."

It was covered in a mask, Deadpool.

"Regardless! Today I want you all to partner up and spar. Annd none of that foam weapons, hanging out in the quad on a Saturday to hit each other with your magic missiles and your tempting geeky ways of working out the pent of frustration. Dear god I want a foam sword to see if I can brain someone with it."

Sometimes his mind worked in interesting ways. But he shook that off. "So get to work!"

Illyria stared down at her. Then at the Big Damn Sword, which was about half the length of Claire. Then at Claire again. "Is your survival optional?" She was fairly certain the answer was no.

Claire had to smirk. "Unless you cut my head off, I'll be fine."

Illyria eyed her dubiously, but gave a slow nod. Perhaps, then, she was essentially invulnerable to physical damage, as this shell once was. She raised her sword to a ready position. "Very well."

Claire knew without a doubt that she was about to get her ass handed to her. Possibly literally. But as far as she was concerned, it was the best way to learn.

She raised her own sword and waited for Illyria to make the first attack.

Illyria had no specific intentions of cutting off Claire's ass and handing it to her, though it might be best not to voice that particular expression to her without explaining it, if one wanted it to stay that way.

What she did intend, with a speed that didn't quite reach superhuman at this point, was to come in from the left and knock the sword out of Claire's hand entirely.

Which, of course, Claire was not expecting in the least. She managed to barely hold on to the sword, but she was knocked pretty well off balance by the blow and the sword was pointing at the floor, not her opponent.

Illyria dipped down to scrape her blade along the length of Claire's, flipping upward with a twist of her arms, strength pulled back enough that at least she wouldn't break Claire's, if she managed to keep gripping the sword.
