Art 101 - Wednesday, Period Four - 10/28

Nick had been a little wary of dealing with today's subject. After all, his personal knowledge of this particular period was, how do you say, extensive.

Which was why he opted for something a little different today.

As the students entered, it was into an old world studio, probably belonging to someone of note, given the strange gadgets strewn about and under tarps. The materials for mixing paints, materials for canvases, a few covered pieces, sketches, "notebooks" of a sort were all scattered around as well; there was order, of a kind, but also a friendly sort of chaos.

On one easel, a painting sat, almost entirely done except perhaps for the signature. Nick couldn't quite help himself from smiling at it.

"I greet you and welcome you on behalf of an old friend," he said with a little grin, "as he won't be here to show you around his studio himself."

He walked over to one of the windows, opened it wide and let the sun shine in.

"I thought about what I should do for this class and decided that, given the great deal of information available and the widespread knowledge of this particular period" as well as the likelihood of Nick screwing up and mentioning something personal while discussing it "that I would do something a little more subtle. So today, feel free to raid the room for art supplies and simply try and absorb what you can from the studio. As always, I'm available for any questions you might have, and if anyone really wants to hit the books, I will happily provide them."

[ocd up! And no giant block of text to read!]

Vampires and their namedropping. Jack was a little smug about that as he took notes today; Da Vinci was an interesting enough name to drop.

Raven thought the portrait was quite lovely, whomever the woman was.

She was still tired, but tired to pay attention as best she could.

The whole space was an interesting place for class as far as Griff was concerned. As he listened, he stared in wonder at the painting.

After paging through a notebook, Jack decided to try to sketch the human form in da Vinci's style.

Free expression was always Griff's favorite activity, gravitating toward his usual sketch pad and pencils, taking in some of the interesting gadgets present in the room.
