Fencing Club - The Salle, Afternoon After Classes

Despite the week of interruption, come Monday afternoon everything was set up as it always was for Fencing Club.

"A light session today," Edmund told the group. "Pair up and let's see if you remember everything despite the week off."

"I'm up for it," Rose said with a smile at him. "Are you offering or just asking."

"That depends on if you think a sneak attack might work against you," Zayne said.

"Not anymore," she pointed out. "I think for a sneak attack to be sneaky, you can't really ask first."

"That's probably true. But then it would be even more surprising if it worked," Zayne said, lifting his modified practice sword and settling into his regular stance.

"I hope you'd kick my ass if it worked," Rose said, settling into her own position and jabbing towards his shoulder with her sword.

"With my luck, you'd end up getting the drop on me," Zayne said, bringing his sword up to deflect the jab. He followed through with his motion, bringing his sword down toward her sword arm.

Because Jedi seemed to love swinging at limbs with their swords.

"I wouldn't mind that," Rose admitted, pulling her arm back to prevent ending up like a Skywalker.

Her instinct was to throw a side kick, but swordfight so she stopped herself, taking a second before trying a low slash towards Zayne's middle.

Zayne spun his sword down quickly to meet Rose's. "You'd really take advantage of an unlucky sparring partner like that?" he asked. He took a step to the side and jabbed his blade at Rose's midsection.

"Um, yeah," Rose agreed, holdong her sword vertically as she just barely managed to deflect his jab. "Wouldn't you?"

"Not in sparring," Zayne said, taking a could steps back to regroup. "But that's probably so the other person would remember it the next time I screwed up, and maybe it would save me from getting smacked with a wooden sword."

"Get hit now to prevent getting skewered later," Rose pointed out, shuffling forward to attempt a high slash.

"So who'd you piss off earlier?"

"It was a class assignment," Zayne said, ducking late enough that the sword brushed through his hair. "I'm pretty sure it was nothing personal." He rose with a jab at Rose's shoulder.

"Is it permanent?" She teased, pivoting out of the way of the strike and aiming her own slash low on his rib cage, trying to time it before he could recover his guard. "Cause it's a good look."

And that hit him right on the side. "Ugh," he grunted before taking a couple steps back. "Thanks. But I don't think Lady Ghanima would go that far." But he couldn't really be sure."
