"Congratulations, by all reports everyone survived the weekend," Aeryn greeted the class. "Luckily for everyone nothing strange rained down from the sky or invaded. I want to take a moment to talk about whether your relatives or friends had any trouble adjusting, and whether you had difficulties explaining anything to them."

Once the discussion was over- and yes, Aeryn found it strange that her class ever had anything to do with talking- she continued, "One of the things you've undoubtedly found is that sometimes you need to release stress and frustration. This is something you've probably discovered in the course of your lives, not just here. If you haven't, I envy you. There are a lot of methods for dealing with it that are either bad, or frowned upon, such as drinking your sorrows away, or killing people, so... don't do them." The last part she didn't so much agree with, but. "Instead, we're going to focus on a healthy physical release. I present to you the foam bat. You can hit people, walls, yourself, it doesn't matter, it won't hurt them. That's what you get to do today. Just leave the padding on, I do not want to send anyone to the clinic."

"Perhaps she cares more than she is willing to admit if she sought you out," Raven said.

At least she wasn't alone in having an uninvited guest show up.

"Maybe she missed bossing me around and stopping me from having any fun," Mat replied.

Which was Mat for "probably, yes."

"I am sorry your visit was unpleasant," Raven said. "But at least it is over now, and you are free to be yourself."

"And you're still speaking to me, so things are looking up," Mat said, winking.

Raven blushed. "I am always happy to speak with you," she said.

"And that makes my day brighter," Mat replied.

"You are a shameless flirt," Raven said, smiling. Not that she was complaining. She liked the warm and pleasant feeling it stired in her.

"See? You didn't need to talk to Egwene to know that," Mat said.

"And I do not think it is a bad thing, either," Raven said. "You make me smile."

"And you have a lovely smile, so we both come out ahead in that," Mat flirted.

"Have you always been this charming," Raven teased, "or is it simply years of practice?"

He'd always thought he was this charming. "Years of practice," he said, winking again.

"You do it very well," Raven said appreciatively. "You must have girls vying for your attention back home."

"I haven't stayed in one place for very long, so I don't really know," Mat said. "I've always been able to find a dance partner, though."

"I do not know how to dance," Raven confessed. "We do not dance in Azarath."

Mat's eyes went wide. "That's terrible! I insist on fixing that for you. I'll teach you how."

"I think I would enjoy that," Raven said with another shy smile.

"It's a date, then," Mat replied. "Tell me what day is good for you."

A date? She had a date? Cue internal flailing! "I am going on the class trip next week," Raven said. "But I am free Friday or Saturday. Or Thursday."

"Let's say Friday," Mat decided. "I don't have any classes that day."

"Nor do I," Raven said. "Where will we go? Do you have any place in mind?"

"There's a room on the first floor that seems like it might have enough room," Mat suggested.

Raven nodded. "But you must promise not to laugh at me," she said.

"I'd never laugh," Mat promised.

"Because I will probably look very silly," Raven said with mock solemnness. "So you will have to be a good teacher."
