cafeteria | lunch time | tuesday | 29 september

After his success with toast last week, Jonas had spent his free time trying his toaster out with a few other things. He'd found that bread worked well but crackers did not. That had been a gigantic mess and Jonas had felt sheepish enough to not touch the toaster for a few days.

But, he'd gotten over that and tried bread again, this time adding peanut butter once the bread had been toaster and packing it for a lunch. So, that's where he was now, prodding experimentally at the sandwich and wondering if he should eat the apple first. The apple was green, something he hadn't seen before but he'd been assured it was ripe.

Food examination and consumption was a lengthy process for Jonas but he enjoyed it. Food was a small but integral part of his memory that he was building.

[cafeteria's open, yep]

Karla appreciated the cafeteria; it fed her when no one else was cooking and she didn't have time to run to town to eat. The food wasn't great, but it was still better than anything she could have cooked on her own.

...Except the cookies, of course.

Loading up her tray with more food than one would expect a skinny little thing like her to eat, she glanced around for a place to sit. And spotted Jonas.

"Kiss kiss," she greeted as she approached his table. "Mind if I join you?"

"It's not going to bite you." Diana informed the random guy she didn't know as she came into the cafeteria and headed over to study the food for level's of eatability.

"Better now that I'm not a male," Karla said with a wry grin, this morning's class still on her mind. "Yourself?"

She couldn't help giving his lunch a dubious look as she took the proffered chair. "I'm willing to share," she added. Surely no one could survive on a peanut butter sandwich and an apple for lunch. "If you're still hungry after your sandwich I mean."

"Is the food that bad, you'd brought your own?" Beka wondered. She'd spotted him with his food and wondered if mayhap she should eat outside of school today. "Hello, Jonas."

Diana nodded sagely and ignored the falling herbs near her. "That's always a good reason to be hesitant. Wha'd you do to it?"

She smiled back before her gaze drifted to the sandwich. "So what did you make?"

[identity profile] provostsdog.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've not heard of peanut butter before," she said, eyeing the sandwich curiously. "Is it good?" Twas a good thing Jonothon had explained toast to her.

She chuckled. "Are you offering so you can make sure it won't kill you?" she teased him.

She snickered, it may even have sounded like a giggle, but she refused to acknowledge that. "I know. I'm just teasing you," she assured him and she pulled the chair back to sit down. "I'd love to, if you've got enough. I don't want you to be hungry later."

"Thank you," she said as she accepted the sandwich. The charm she wore against her skin didn't heat up, so at least the sandwich wasn't magicked. Not that she'd been worried.

She tore a corner off the sandwich and couldn't resist sniffing it. "You've been trying the food here?" she asked.

"That's not that dangerous." Diana decided and came over with a tray of fruit and what she was pretty sure was a salad. "Unless the peanut butter split or turned or something."

"I've not heard of crackers either," she mused. "Jonothon did tell me about toast. What'd bad about crackers?"

She finally popped the piece of sandwich in her mouth and her eyes widened as it didn't like she'd expected it to. Not that she knew what she'd been expecting. "Strange."

"Tis," she agreed, blinking and she took another small bite hoping the bread would help get it to unstick. "It isn't bad." She was still trying to decide.

"It didn't break the toaster?"
