How to Win Friends and Influence People Class 2: Sept. 11

Glinda was waiting at the front of the classroom, and seemed less cheery than usual. Although there were still snacks in the form of a cake and tea. "Today's lesson covers the fundamentals of handling people. They are as follows: First, don't criticize, condemn or complain. Second, give honest and sincere feedback. Third, motivate the other person to genuinely want to achieve what you are aiming for.

"Today's activity will revolve around that. I want you to pair up. You will take turns proposing the craziest idea you can think of, and the other will try to critique without coming across as namby-pamby or overtly harsh. Any questions? No? Then let's begin."

Chuck was not going to turn down food during a class, and had his cake and a cup of tea (which he was eying in the hope that would cool it down) while he listened.

Figuring out something crazy, that people around here wouldn't think of as pretty damn normal... Wasn't as easy as Chuck had imagined it might be, so he was already trying to come up with something as he waited for a partner.

The other side of this? Nice criticism. He'd probably be better at.

Eleanor had tea and cake as she listened to the lecture.

"Looking for a partner?" Eleanor asked, coming up to him.

Caaaaake. Didi took a nice fat slice and prodded at it with her fork as she listened.

Didi stayed in her seat and watched the group, waiting for a partner. The assignment sounded fun.

Tybalt Capulet does not do respect

Tybalt gave the cake a somewhat disdainful look, and then gave his head a shake.

Which wasn't going to stop him from taking a slice to poke at during the lecture, no. He just liked giving disdainful looks to things.

Tybalt cast a look in the direction of the goth girl, considering for a moment.

She'd do.

"Art thou still looking for a partner?"

"I guess I am," Didi said, her usual faint smile forming as she looked him over. (Not uncute, but kind of on the greasy side, and the speech was interesting for this time and place.) "It's Didi. What kind of crazy thing do you want to talk me into?"

Katchoo was not one to turn down cake.

Although the thought of her not criticizing . . . hahaha.

"Oh, I've all manner of ideas, though I'd consider precious few to be crazy," Tybalt mused, taking the seat across from her, straddling it backwards and resting his arms on the backrest. "I daresay whatever task I set depends most strongly on what thou might think to be mad in the first place, good lady. Art thou the sort who doth protest to time spent participating in activities of a more questionable nature?"

bitchy_smurf: (bring it)

Re: Activity :: 9/11

[personal profile] bitchy_smurf 2009-09-11 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, this would work out very, very well.

Illyria was incapable - in her own inviolable opinion - of coming up with insane ideas, so clearly she would have to wait to be approached with one.

Before smacking it down like a bitch.

"What are we calling questionable?" Didi wondered. "if you're trying to get me drunk, that's really not my thing."
