Starting a Small Business

All right folks.

At this point, there are six of you in the class and you'll be working in pairs. I may allow one more pair to join the class.

First week assignment is to pair up and decide what kind of mock business you want to start.

I know that kinneybrian and taylorjustin said they want to work together.

the4thsister mentioned possibly working with cookinggeek because they live together - are you two going to do that?

That would leave aka_vala and veronicamars1 as partners.

I'll work on the assumption that this is going to be the case and you let me know if anything changes. You can have this class time to decide what type of business you want to run (restaurant, inn, PR firm, factory, whatever) and figure out a name. Remember that your name says a lot about you and sometimes a name can make or break you.

Names can also have brand recognition - My inn, for example, is called The Dragonfly Inn - and, consequently, we use a dragonfly logo on as much as possible. Keep these things in mind when deciding on a name.

Well I'm certainly curious. Did I ever tell you that I worked as a private investigator back home? I like being able to get into places I'm not supposed to.

Hey, that's it! We're supposed to use our natural talents, right? Certainly we can make a business out of being snooping and being sneaky, right? We've both got experience in that.

Of course we can't *say* that's what we're doing, or we lose all deniability of our cover...

That's a great idea! And, since I have experience, maybe we can actually make some money on the deal... I guarantee it won't be long before something goes wrong here and someone needs help.

So we're going to create a "mock" PI firm?

Now we just need a name.
