It was an unholy union, this team of Elle Woods and Turtle Wexler, and no one seemed to be as aware of this fact as Turtle Wexler herself. Thanks to everything else going on today, Turtle had to turn the reins over to Elle to prepare for ABG's first meeting this semester and, while it was great because everything was coming from Turtle & Canary, it was coming at Elle's discretion.

Which meant that the classroom was decked out in a lot of pink and glitter. A lot. Who knew there were even other shades of pink than hot and pepto bismol? Apparent, Elle knew, and the whole rainbow of pink was splattered over desks in the form of cloths, chairs in the form of ribbons, and the handles of baskets containing all sorts of delicious and thankfully not-so-pink baked goods (the muffins, for instance, were not pink, although there were iced cupcakes that fit the theme). It was actually making Turtle feel a little nauseous, although that might just be that she was stuffing her face with some cookies after probably way too much sugar already today.

Either way, they made their introductions, Elle in her bubbly Elle way, and Turtle, while bouncy, seemed even more straight-laced and professional by comparison. "We're very excited," she said, "to get Alpha Beta Gremlin started up again, and it's really excited to see such a great turn-out, too! Now, basically, a sorority like this is not just padding for your transcripts. A sorority like this is also a chance to bond with your other female Fandom Highers, and a chance to improve the community. I'm talking sleep overs, bake sales, community clean up projects, all made more fun because of the bond between ABG'ers."

"To welcome you all to the sisterhood, Elle and I have put together little bags for everyone, and they've got your name on it and are filled with fun little things, as well as your ABG badge to display proudly to the world." The bags, pink, of course, were filled with fun confetti, tubes of glitter, fun size candies, little bottles of nail polish and tiny tubes of glittery lip gloss, some hair accessories, some cool glittery pens, highlighters, the ABG pins, and a five dollar gift card for Turtle & Canary -- guess who contributed what.

"What we're going to do today," Turtle continued, "is just sort of chill out and mingle and get to know each other a little better, although some of us probably know each other pretty well. In that case, what we'd like is for you to branch out and if there's a sister here that you don't know very well, go and talk to that person and get that changed! If you do feel you know everyone here really well, good for you! Have some more cookies."

"I'd also like everyone to take a moment to fill out a little card and put it into this bag,"--pink, of course--"for ideas on what you'd like ABG to accomplish this year. And then next meeting, we'll go through some of the suggestion cards and think more seriously on how to get them done. Today, however, we'll just tighten our bonds of sistership and enjoy all this really good stuff Elle's baked for us."

"Also, Miss Upland will be our adviser for the semester, so make sure to thank her. I'm sure she's got plenty of good ideas, herself." And lots and lots of more pink and glitter, so help them all.

"Isn't this great?" Hayley said, bouncing a little.

Her voice was probably very recognizable.

Ino gave her a flat look, oh yeah, that voice? Totally recognized.

"Careful," she said drawlingly, almost but not quite insultingly, "wouldn't want you to get infected with brat."

Okay. So Ino was mentally five sometimes and totally not impressed.

"Huh?"

Hayley had a short attention span at the best of times. Not to mention the Nics had already fried out parts of her brain.

"Nice to meet you Hayley," Ino said, giving her a once over. "I'm Ino."

"Oh, hi Ino!" Hayley said, smiling. "You must be extra smart, if you already know my name."

Ino was...

Starting to think that Hayley was really really dumb.

"I listened to radio last night," she said off-handedly. "I tend to remember the names of people who insult me and yet don't know me."

"You were the girl makin fun of Azula!" Hayley said, realizing. "You shouldn't ever do that!"

"I asked her a simple question," Ino told her blandly. "She treated me like a three year old. I treat people how they deserve to be treated. She was rude first, I don't have to take it."

A pause.

"And no, I seriously don't care if they're royalty. They ain't royalty with power over me."

Hayley just giggled. "You're actin' like one, ya know."

"That's called attitude," she said, sighing. "I don't boss people around."

That was a total lie.

"Besides, I just said you were a brat. It's up to you if ya think that's an insult," Hayely said.

"I was more insulted," she said dryly, "by someone calling me names when they didn't even know me. It's not like the squirrels get things exactly right, after all."

"...they don't?" Hayley said. "But why's a squirrel gonna lie?"

"'Cause they gossip so much that everything gets jumbled together?" Ino said, shrugging. "Or they feel like it, or 'cause they wrote it down wrong and the message is changed in meaning."

"...Oh gosh," Hayley said. "I didn't even know."

She wibbled. "I'm sorry if I was spreadin' lies about ya!"

...that was a mood swing. Ino was almost impressed.

"Don't worry 'bout it," she sighed, dismissing it. "No hard feelings, yeah?"

And it swung back just as quickly. Hayley grinned.

"I'm so glad!" she said. "Cause you seem awfully nice in person."

Hayley had odd ideas about what 'nice' was.

Ino was nice!

... by her own definition of nice which depending on the day may or may not bear much resemblance to the standard definition of nice. But still.

"You too," she said, amused. "And I guess I try to be."

No Ino, no you do not.

"Golly, that's great," Hayley said. "I try, too. I mean, I'm only mean to people that deserve it, ya know?"

Ino laughed.

"What's your definition of 'deserved it'?"

"Well, there's no easy answer for that," Hayley said. "But its when it feels right, ya know?"

"Yeah, I know," she said, smiling faintly. "Just feels right definitely tends to vary."

"Besides, hard rules are only for cops and they're all a bunch of meanies, anyway," Hayley said.

"They're uuuseless," Ino said, "they shout and wave guns around 'cause if they shoot someone that person can sue them and that, seriously, makes no sense."

Hayley grinned. "You sure really are smart," she said. "Most other people seem to think that they're great!"
