The Club Fair - Gym - Friday Afternoon

Today was the day of the club fair! Wasn't it just so exciting?!

Jean was totally excited.

So excited, in fact, that she showed up early to find it just as everything was being set up like the little overachiever she was. Maybe she'd be able to swing voters here!

Oh look! The club schedule! This was going to be so great, right everyone?!

"Give you a tissue and tell you to suck it up," he answered sensitively. Really.

She laughed, the answer too predictable from him though she didn't really believe it.

"Thank God," she teased. "Don't worry. It'll never happen."

Yeah, he'd probably give her a hug or something if it really happened. She was just lucky he liked her.

"Never say never," he said, shaking his head. "That's just jinxing yourself."

Awww, he was such a sweetheart.

"Don't tell me you believe in that stuff," Rose said, making a face. "Do you watch out for black cats too."

"No, I believe that this island has a fucked up sense of humor and will make you cry if it can," he replied.

"It can't," Rose said definitively. Because he wasn't the only one with a well-honed sense of bravado. "Be nice if it didn't get my hair all sticky just cause I was going for a run though."

"Obviously you weren't running fast enough," he said, smirking.

This would be where Rose would've raised an eyebrow. Instead she smirked.

"Uh huh. So let's go out there," Rose challenged. "You can show me how it's done."

"Are you seriously challenging me to a race in the syrup rain?" he asked, amused.

She grinned broadly. "You think you can do it better so - yeah."

"You might mess up your pretty hair," Alex said, reaching to tug on one end.

"I hear it washes out," she teased, just barely keeping from leaning towards the touch. Stupid nice hair-touchy. "My hair's too awesome to be kept down."

"That or it'll get so sticky, you'll have to shave it," he said, giving her hair one last tug before dropping it.

So wasn't going to happen. ...right?

"If it's too much for you, you can say so," Rose taunted.

"I didn't say anything like that," he said, shaking his head. "You're on, shortstack."

Why did people keep calling her that?

"Yeah," she deadpanned. "Like pancakes, I taste great with syrup."

Well, she thought she was funny.

"Are you gonna let me taste you after the race?" he asked, almost hopeful. Look, she left that open.

So she did. "If you win," Rose teased.

"Rough," he said but nodded towards the door. "Let's go, munchkin."

That got him a glare, but she started towards the door. "Shut it, Dorothy."

So, she was small and he was a girl. He could deal with that. He'd been a hot girl before. He just grinned and disappeared out of the gym.

Eww, Dorothy was like 9.

He was totally taking it back. Just as soon as she caught up.
