The Club Fair - Gym - Friday Afternoon

Today was the day of the club fair! Wasn't it just so exciting?!

Jean was totally excited.

So excited, in fact, that she showed up early to find it just as everything was being set up like the little overachiever she was. Maybe she'd be able to swing voters here!

Oh look! The club schedule! This was going to be so great, right everyone?!

[[Please wait for the OCD is up, go to town!]]

Joan was there and would be happy to encourage people to sign up to host a booth at the multicultural fair.

"Hi Joan," Karla greeted with a smile. "Might I sign up to do another web for the fair?"

"That would be fantastic!" Joan said. "And maybe I'll even get a chance to experience it this time."

"Rather than unicorns, I'm hoping to have people experience the Runs this time," Karla mentioned. "It'll feel like they're flying."

Joan was going to go ahead and assume that "the runs" had a vastly different meaning in Karla's world, yes.

"Neat! That sounds like a lot of fun."

[*snerk!*]

"I hope you make it over," she said, bending over to sign up. "And that I manage to make it over to some of the other booths."

Elena wasn't sure she had a culture, to share. Sure, she was from another planet, but "Your Guide to the Slums" was a bit of a downer.

But she dropped by the booth anyway, because she hadn't chatted with her big sib in a while.

"Hi," she said. "So, is there gonna be food, at this thing?"

Important question.

Joan grinned. "Of course! Lots of people make food to help demonstrate their cultures."

She paused. "Just... if Worf has a booth again, don't eat his stuff."

"Noted," Elena laughed. "We could form some sort of independent review panel. Decide whose culture is best, based on food."

No way would that go horribly wrong.

"Hmmm, I think I would need to stay out of that as one of the organizers," Joan said. "How's everything going with you? Find any clubs to join?"

"Maybe we could give out awards," she mused. "Most interesting use of something that doesn't look like it should be food, for one."

She shrugged, idly. "I haven't signed up for any, yet," she admitted. "I'm not sure I'm really a joiner. I mean, I have classes, I hang out with people, and there's always the bar, right?"

"You should try out for the cheerleading squad!" Joan suggested. "We lost so many people to graduation last year. It's a lot of fun."

"Cheerleading?" Elena laughed. "You have to be kidding me."

Rah rah rah, sis boom bah, shoot the other guys in the head and dump the body somewhere it won't be found! Gooooooo, team!

"Fandom High cheerleaders are not like cheerleaders at other schools," Joan pointed out.

"Seriously?" she asked. "I'm not sure that I'm the peppy type. Filled with school spirit, and all. Unless I could do judo-chops as part of a routine."

"Do I strike you as the overly peppy type?" Joan asked. "It's not like we have any teams to cheer for. It's mostly just pep rally type things and competitions."

Re: Talk to the Representative - Multicultural Fair

[identity profile] findingelena.livejournal.com 2009-09-04 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Competitions?" Elena asked, ears perking up slightly. Damn her competitive streak. Maybe they got awards? "No, you don't. Uh. No offense, or anything. Cheerleaders usually seem more like ..."

Like Reno's girlfriend. Chirpy. Of course, Reno's girlfriend had also taken point on Bahamut, so maybe there was a high crossover, at this school, between 'fighter' and 'cheerleader.'

That was an intriguing idea, right there.

"... I guess it couldn't hurt to check it out, right?"

"Definitely not," Joan encouraged. "Our captains are over there." She pointed to the table with Savannah, Sam and Angela. "You can sign up to try out."
