The Club Fair - Gym - Friday Afternoon

Today was the day of the club fair! Wasn't it just so exciting?!

Jean was totally excited.

So excited, in fact, that she showed up early to find it just as everything was being set up like the little overachiever she was. Maybe she'd be able to swing voters here!

Oh look! The club schedule! This was going to be so great, right everyone?!

Savannah was here and pretty bouncy.

"Hi, Savannah!" Claire was pretty bouncy herself.

Savannah grinned. "Hey Claire. Coming to sign up?"

"You know it!" Claire said. "I already put my name on the list! When are tryouts?"

"The sixteenth," Savannah said with a smile. "They'll be in the Gym."

"I will be there," Claire promised. "Got any pointers?"

"Okay, how much crack did you suck in this morning to get you this bouncy?" K-Mart asked, trying her damn best not to laugh and failing miserably.

Savannah smiled at her. "It's one of my favorite times of the year."

"It's good to see you bouncing around," K-Mart admitted.

Her smile faltered a bit. "I guess I haven't really been that fun to be around lately."

As a co-captain now, Angela assumed she was supposed to be here to coerce the new talent into trying out, so she was hanging by the table with her drink and looking out for anyone she could get into this.

No coercing needed for this one. Claire signed her name to the sheet before she went to talk to the folks sitting at the table.

"Not a difficult decision for you, then," Angela noted.

"Not at all," Claire said with a grin. "I'm Claire. I don't think we've met."

"Don't think we have," she agreed. "Hi, I'm Angela, co-captain... as of a few weeks ago."

Sam was still highly amused about being a co-captain, and he'd decided that his job was to try to attract more girls to the table. He was hoping he'd do well.

There was one girl who was very happy about this. "Sam! You have to put in a good word for me!"

"Put in a good word for--oh, are you going to try out?" Sam asked.

Claire nodded. "Yup! I don't care what my dad says. I want to be a cheerleader."

"Then you should definitely try out," Sam said. "What makes you think I'll need to put in a good word?"

Elena was lurking, near the table. Finally, she facepalmed.

"I can't possibly be thinking about this," she said.

"Why not?" Sam said, smiling. "It's a fun group. We're not like cheerleaders on TV or anything."

"I've heard," she said, offering him a wry smile. "My big sib said I should try out. I told her I wasn't exactly ... peppy, but she said that's not a requirement."

"No, perkiness is not a requirement," Sam said, wanting to be assuring. "Flexibility and general enthusiasm are good though. Who's your big sibling?"
