Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Yup. There was still food. And tables. Nothing new about any of that, sadly. But maybe there would be shirtlessness? One can always hope, ya know. Dream big.

Dream big.

Not you, Jono. Eeeew.

[Please wait for the OCD is up! This is the SECOND post for general mingling. Use this post if your browser can't handle the comment load of the first mingling post. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here.]

*I think those people who have been judged as being different themselves have an easier time empathizing with what is truly different. After the initial reaction, they ought to be able to remember what is what like for them being on the other side, and come to terms faster,* Karla said with a decisive nod.

Of course, this wasn't a good conversation to have with a Queen. The urge to protect and shelter her people, to give them a better world, rode Karla hard. And she had a very broad definition of 'hers.'

Jono knew a few people who liked to stretch the boundaries of that same definition, so he wasn't going to dwell too heavily on it.

//It's a side of the fence that's no bloody fun to be living on,// he noted. //Some people just live a little farther on the other side of the fence than others, I've found.//

*I can imagine you have. I...have some experience with that myself,* Karla sent, her tone very neutral and with no accompanying emotions. *Even my world, a world filled with magic, has its outcasts sometimes.*

Well, outcastes, really. And only since Hobart had started that damned whisper campaign against Black Widows. But that wasn't something she'd be sharing with a near-perfect stranger, thanks much.

*But, like I said, hopefully some time living on that wrong side of the fence will make others understand what it's like to live further in. Not everyone, of course, but the rest of us will hopefully make up for it.*

Jonothon mulled that over for a moment, and then he pulled himself to his feet again, glancing her way.

//I suppose we'll find out on Wednesday, hm?//

*I guess we will,* she sent, hopping to her feet as well. *And I highly doubt my trust will be misplaced. But it was a pleasure to meet you, Jonothon.* He'd be able to feel the sincerity in that, at least.

//Charmed.//

Actually, he kind of was. In that sort of way that made him wonder momentarily if he wasn't half as alone around here as he figured he was anywhere else.

//I'll see yer around, then, Karla.//

*Enjoy your afternoon,* she sent, already slipping into the crowd. *See you Wednesday.*
