Yup. There was still food. And tables. Nothing new about any of that, sadly. But maybe there would be shirtlessness? One can always hope, ya know. Dream big.

"So, I'm sure people have been telling you all sorts of weird stuff about Fandom, right?" said Harper with a knowing smile.

"Oh, yeah, all kinds of weird stuff," Eric agreed vaguely ~~because his thread with his big was on SP~~."

"Believe me, it's all true," warned Harper. "Especially the stuff about the squirrels. I refused to believe it for the longest time."

"Squirrels are awesome!" Eric said.

"You might think otherwise after you hear the radio broadcast," said Harper, being deliberately vague. There were some things you had to learn for yourself, she felt.

"I can't wait to listen!" Eric said.

"Oh, and you should probably check out the play," said Harper. "We're putting on a production of Scottish Play. Opening night is on Tuesday, and I'm in it!"

Eric grinned. "I can do that."

Oh wait. "But I have plans on Tuesday. What other days are you performing?"

"There's a second performance on Thursday evening," said Harper. "What are you doing on Tuesday, anyway?"

"Oh, I have a date," Eric said.

Harper blinked. "Wow, that was fast," she said. "I was here for a whole semester before I met my ~~not-~~boyfriend."

Eric grinned. "When you have hair this good, it's pretty easy."

But, aw. "So you have a boyfriend? Guess that means I can't ask you out."

"Oh, we're not serious or anything. I'm sure he's interested in other people," Harper was quick to point out. That's what happens when the guy you like only likes boys.

"Then we should definitely go out sometime," Eric said.

Never mind that he had just told her he had a date with another girl.

A year ago, Harper probably would have flailed, stammered, started plotting to stalk Eric, or all of the above. But she'd gained some confidence since arriving in Fandom, and she managed to appear calm on the outside.

"We should definitely go out sometime," she agreed.

Eric grinned. "When are you done with the play?"

"Thursday is the last performance," said Harper. "I'm sure Geoffrey, the director, will take some time off afterwards before deciding on the next play."

"Next Saturday then?" Eric suggested.

"It's a date! I'll be looking forward to it," said Harper, grinnng.

But she was even more excited about being able to show up at Pixie Dust tomorrow to tell the other Eric that she'd moved on from him. Maybe he'd be jealous.

Okay, he probably wouldn't be.

"Cool! Me too," Eric said.
