Rangering!, Friday, Period Four [ 08/07 ].

"Good afternoon, class!" Today, they would find themselves being greeted by their brusque teacher in the usual Danger Shop clearing, although the woods seemed a bit thicker, the rocky bits rockier, and there was the sound of a waterfall and a river off in the distance, which spilled out into the sea. It was all very pretty.

"Allow me to take a second to apologize for missing class last week, but I am sure my TA did a fine job in leading you to buttkicking! If you have any particularly rousing stories about your buttkicking or any residual questions, please, I would love to hear them!"

"Today we are working on two very important ranger skills! Tracking, and plant finding!" He started to hand out some papers, which were probably pretty helpful and full of information, but Minsc would not be offended if anyone made paper planes or blew their noses in them...because they had a lot of information on them and reading was hard. "Being able to recognize signs of creatures in the area recently might be a big difference between a successful raid or being eaten by a bear! And knowing the difference between a plant that can a heal and a plant that can give you explosive stomach pains is very good, too! You'd be surprised how similar they make some of those! So please look over the material, ask any questions if you've got them, and I'd like you to pair up, go into the woods, and start tracking! Try to find the lair of a creature or monster hidden in these woods, and then try to locate at least three bad plants and three good plants! When you are done, you may work on your sparring or target practise. Now go!"

Fiona read over the article on tracking, mostly, as she was familiar with any number of items of plantlife. ...the tracking was going to be hard.

"...I can't read it very well," Kenshin said, as he approached Fiona.

She nodded and pulled him over to a place they could sit.

"It's not to hard, most of the words. And if we go through the woods, I can show you most of the plants."

Kenshin nodded.

"I might know some of them," he said. "Shishou taught me about the plants and animals around his home."

So Kenshin wouldn't get eaten or poisoned or anything.

She started pointing to the marks and naming them aloud to him.

"Are any of those familiar to you?"

Momoko read over the handouts as she listened. A scavenger hunt. This was going to be fun!

Momoko looked to see if there was anyone who looked willing to partner up. She was a bit excited to get started and maybe see if she could track a bear or a moose or maybe a coyote or...

she glanced at the tracking sheet again...

What was a 'grouse'?

Sir Minsc's sense of humor was exemplary, as per usual.

You could tell by the very idle sense of not caring at all that Arthur exuded today. (In actuality, he was probably hatching a few very bad, over-compensating ideas)

Eric remembered not being terribly good at this class last time around...

Yeah, he was probably going to be pretty useless at it this time, too, although he'd do his best to help anyone who might need it.
